Red rice is the best. All of my aunts made it but my mom's was the most sought after. She made it with butts meat (pork, we're southern), peppers and sausage for flavor. The crispy, no-yet-burnt, rice is great when the red rice cakes up in the pot. So glad my sister now knows the recipe :)

I learned how to cook plain rice from my mom, which means it's usually slightly burnt/crispy.

cleaning the toilet really is the fastest thing to clean which is why i can't understand the bathrooms on hoarders, eww!! some comet or lysol under the rim cleaner to soak the bowl then, a few minutes later or immediately next, toilet brush it, spray the outside and seat and wipe down. and you're done! i like the idea of vacuuming around the bottom. might have to do that

i have had my eye on the milan furniture set for years at macys so it's nice to see it in a actual home arrangement b/c now that i'm in my new space, I can't picture it in mine. As a solution for the hot radiators, I've sewn buttons on the back of my velvet curtains and tabs at the bottom to fold the curtain up above the radiator but still allow me to have them full length when the heat is off. Also, i think a bold area rug or a bold patterned chair would have warmed up the room as well since everything else is white and black with the little color pops.

soon to be a loveseat! plan to purchase this weekend in the sales. I agree that for pictures shown, the ones with the sofa at the foot don't make sense but it will for me when i do the same thing, lol! the rooms in the pictures seem to have so much room that it doesn't make sense for them to be that close to the bed. i have few other places to locate it in my studio

What's at the Foot of Your Bed?

my bedroom is almost exactly the same layout as this, radiator and window the same locations, but maybe a little wider. I have my bed centered which makes better sense visually and I use Ikea Ribba ledges instead of nightstands with a floor lamp for lighting. After having shelves come within seconds of actually falling on my head over my bed once, cabinets are a no, no for me. It's nice to see others working with this kind of space :) Love the wall paper!

years ago, ikea offered a little wicker seat/hamper that i love and still use, even though the wicker is a little worse for wear. it's enough for two loads of laundry - maybe three if i cram stuff in. the storing laundry in dressers would make me paranoid that one day I'd throw some filthy clothes on in a rush, not a good thing.

on a cleanup note though, what kind of dusting cloth did you use, just a regular rag or something else?

I'm gonna miss these videos after the challenge :)

There's a kitchen cure as well? I gotta check that out:)
I have a divide and conquer landing strip as well. In the door, shoes off, coat in closet, mail on office divider, bag on office divider hook, keys on refrigerator hook, jewelry in jewelry box. Phew! just did all that and now I have to split up my weekly eucalyptus bunch to catch up from yesterday.
I live in a studio so all of that was done within steps of each other :) Time for my 10 minutes of quiet.

I saw that chandelier after I was eyeing one at the Home Depot on 23rd street which is $300! Seeing how good the Pearl River one looks in your place, I'm definitely opting for that one now. thanks!
