Hi Laura - My husband and I recently made a cross-Atlantic move, and we also pared down significantly before shipping things. We used a moving company (Crown, if you're interested), who estimated the weight of our belongings to be about 2000 pounds. We didn't move a bedroom set, but had a few small tables and lots of kitchen stuff and clothes and books, so it may be a close comparison. Good luck!

Sorry, this does not look like it belongs in a West Elm catalog - maybe a frat house or college apartment? Especially if you're setting it up on cinder blocks, as suggested.

I made this earlier this week, substituting lemon juice for the milk and it turned out great. Really good lemon flavor, and the substitution didn't seem to affect the texture at all.

so simple, but always delicious: layer of cream cheese on the bottom, can of hormel chili, top with cheese. bake for 15 minutes and serve with tortilla chips.

Having just moved to the UK, I have had to readjust to smaller-sized appliances all around. Maybe I'm just spoiled or stuck in my ways, but I hate my tiny washer and dryer. I have to do way more loads of laundry, which feels like such a waste of time and water and electricity. Also, our oven is pretty tiny and there's no chance it'll fit a turkey come Thanksgiving...

I have the microplane box grater, too, and I love it. It's a few years old, but it still works as if it's brand new.

I always use apple cider vinegar (not white) and milk when I need a substitute.

and if you eat the crust, will it really give you rosy cheeks and curly hair? (did anyone else have a grandmother who claimed that?!)
