I don't remember ever being forced to eat something as a kid. If I didn't like it, I didn't eat it. End of story.

Catfish, however, is the enemy. I stayed at a neighbor's house cause my parents were at work. They fed me catfish. Please, keep in mind, I grew up in Japan and ate all kinds of awesome fish and seafood. But the day I ate "boneless" catfish and promptly began to choke on the bone that caught on my throat has turned me off of fish for a long time.

Now, it turns out I break out in hives if I eat "safer" fish such as tuna and salmon. So fish is definitely out. Anything of the clam/mussels/oyster families are out too cause they skeeve me out and plus I'm allergic to oysters and would fear having a reaction to them now anyway.

Cheddar cheese grits with brown butter garlic sauce and a toast smeared with a lot of butter and some blueberry jam is my current guilty pleasure.

White chocolate Reese's and Kitkats are still weaknesses. Also drinking high fat milk such as half and half or whipping cream, which is why they are not in the house too much. I love fruity pebbles and captain cruch with berries (though I specifically like how it makes my mouth raw--I'm weird I know.)

Cup cakes, any kind home made or not. Sadly, it's usually the not cause I would inhale all of them if they were at the house. Dorito's Sweet Chili is pretty addictive as well.

I eat popcorn from work with make shift "chopsticks" by which I mean straws. It is especially handy if I down it with some nacho cheese and jalapenos. (I work at a theatre, can you tell?) I did it cause I was handling money a lot and usually unable to wash my hands...so chopstick straws it was! Far more sanitary than whatever is on the cash transferring to my food.

I also prefer to eat fries and well whatever is fried with a fork at the very least. Honestly, I really should be better at eating with real chopsticks than I am.

Twowheeler: How very true! My dogs seem to follow similar protocols. The Weim is my obstacle, the Corgi and Weim are the vacuum and taste tester. My corgi, however, has better success in the vacuum/taste tester role as she is smaller and can get into spaces he can't. Plus, she is much more astute too.

Both dogs have never met a vegetable or fruit that has fallen that they didn't like! They will eat lettuce, spinach, broccoli, and any fruit that has been made a sacrifice to the floor. Half the time, they catch it and eat it and then realize maybe it wasn't what they wanted after all. Even if it is raw eggs with shell, bleh.

jenawithonen, you can try almond milk as a substitute. Also goat's milk should be ok if your friend has a lactose allergy. Otherwise, hempmilk maybe an alternative.

As for any ideas besides sorbets...I'm not much help.

Dart boards, pool tables, a swimming pool were always a win for me. A friend's house also had a downstairs bar across from the pool which housed all their liquor. Of course, I was 8 but I still understood the cool factor of it.

Basements that were finished were always cool. I loved pantries and still wish to have one! I loved the libraries I have seen. I also loved the one dream window seat where I would imagine myself a cat and curl up in the sunny spot.

Also papasan chairs were very impressive to me and now I have my own! Of course "own" is subjective as I'm constantly fighting two dogs for my own chair.

Man, oranges usually are not filling for me at all. In fact, it often causes me to crave chocolate immediately after. I blame those whack-a-chocolates that were flavored with oranges for that. Anyone remember those?

I'm usually good with apples and pears. I feel that the fiber in them will cause less of a sugar crash. But seriously, back when I could eat fish it never satisfied me like chicken or beef did.

Ah the Asian Flush, how I despise thee. I get it with the slightest hint of alcohol.

I'm half Japanese. I think I'll blame my mother's side for this too. I can probably blame my father's English/Irish roots for letting me blush easily to the point where my ears and chins join my cheeks in the race for the reddest. I also love the magenta color I turn when I work out (not even hard for that matter--sigh.) I even start blushing if I get hot or over heated cause of no air conditioner (or crappy air conditioner.) My eye doctor even asked me if I had roseacea but the regular doctor was unconcerned.

Hey at least I'll never need blush!

Back, when I could drink, my boyfriend and I would alternate turns as to who will be DD. Now with my medical issues and not being able to (allowed to) drink, no one really bats an eye. If we play Beer Pong, I have a DD or Designated Drinker (poor boyfriend usually winds up drunker than intended thanks to my horrible skills.) I suppose it also helps that one person in the group knows someone else with the same bladder condition as I do, so she readily tells people about it whether or not I want her to. Actually, the boyfriend will too. So half of the time new people get answers and usually not from me and the bulk of the time their drunk.

I hope that I don't ever visit a country where it is deemed rude to turn down an alcoholic beverage. I'd feel bad.

Is that a new room to the side? I want to see what that is! I also think it is strange that you can't see the air vent anymore in the after shot. The windows don't look like it made that much of a difference to me in the after shot. Just my opinion.

I love the corgi and the kitty!

Seriously, I like the place. I really like the mirror (?) that's hanging above the bed. I even love the touch of whimsy the disco ball adds to the place.

I believe I'm one of those territorial people or people who really like their personal space. Whenever I am a guest, I make sure that all of my needs are taken care of without burdening the host. I always bring my own towels and toiletries and pillow. I always strip the bed when we leave and try to fold it up to be put in the wash or just wash it myself if they let me. I don't really know why I am like this. I blame my mom I think, she was always of the don't expect people to cater to you but you have to cater to them when they come to your house.

We had company in our small house thrice so far. One was an unexpected significant other kicked them out for the night can I sleep on your couch kinda of thing and all he would partake in is the beer and no food. We set up either a bed or a mattress on the floor of the living room (at the time it was the only room with air conditioning) with a blanket in the doorway to give not only privacy but also retain the cool air in the room.

With only one bathroom, there really wasn't much space to give up. But there was always towel space as we usually hang our towels in the bedroom on a chair to air out anyway. I will usually wake up and make breakfast to order and depending on the situation we will entertain the guest unless they want to do otherwise. Only once did we have a guest that complained the whole time about everything. Thankfully, that person wasn't a friend of mine and I don't have to interact with them again as it burned bridges with my boyfriend acting in such a way.

Moral to the story: give the hostess a break. Not all of us has the money or really the space to fully cater to a guest but we do try! Fresh sheets and towels for the using and food to eat and drink to boot!

My mother recently got this sink a four months ago. I have to say it looks pretty but hers is already scratched up, particularly around the drain. I don't know what she did to do that so quickly as I don't live there but I imagine it is probably from the steel wool I see at times resting in the sink.

I was one of many who thought I was looking at a black and white photo, but I really love it. I love the monochromatic colors that are found through out the entire place. I think it really ties everything together really well and make the place seem larger almost.

Does anyone know where I can get that Hepburn print?

I like to watch "Hoarders" on Netflix while I declutter. It really inspires me and I mean no offense to the people on Hoarders. Between the boyfriend and I, I believe we are about level 1 or 2 at this point and we are trying not to get worse!

I ended up filling up 2 30 pound trash cans with my crap alone though it was mostly old clothes that don't fit and are not fit enough to donate. Boyfriend has a bunch of project crap that he got rid of (beer bottles that he was saving for three years for the "next batch of beer" he was going to brew.)

Yumpomelos, I can solve your Miso soup dilemma! I too am no longer allowed soy, which sucks since I'm half Japanese, but my mom has learned through trial and error a lot of foods can be made without the use of soy.

Miso soup for instance is just as good without the miso. Just make a chicken stock (she calls it salt soup) and add a bit more salt or don't its truly up to you and add seaweed and tiny chunks of chicken breasts and some mushrooms if you can have it--just as good! Also, if you are into the dried shitaki--the juice you get from rehydrating them is also good in lieu of soy sauce.

I'm on the IC diet for life. I can't have anything with acids in it--caffeine, chocolate, tomatoes, onions, sodas, ascorbic acid, citric acid, soy, and a whole bunch of other things including preservatives. I suggest that you go through all the fast food menus because there will be days when you get the lazies or the spontaneous meal out with friends will happen. You will be surprised how pervasive soy products are in our food products and even our skin creams. I know, I certainly was.

I always keep a snack with me. In the beginning, I almost always had a pb and honey sandwich with me in my purse or the one kind of crackers I can have.

I also want to add that flaxseeds can be used as an egg substitute when baking! Bob Red Mill has the specific ratio that you need to use but all you have to do is add water. Use applesauce in lieu of milk and butter and I think you will be golden!

Cottage cheese for me though it isn't low sodium friendly but the right brands are safe for those with painful bladder syndrome.

I was diagnosed with interstitial cytitis. I went from 4 cups of coffee everyday to nil. I went through a wicked three month withdrawal compounded by my inability to sleep due to the frequency I was using the bathroom. I've discovered Teecino and highly recommend it. I also take from my Japanese roots and drink barley tea cold and hot. I have found a delicious Roobois tea by Davison's and its a caramel and vanilla flavoring. It smells like toffee, so divine. Peppermint tea has also been another option for me.

I also drink a lot of warmed up milk with white chocolate or a splash of vanilla. I don't care for milk too much cold unless it involves me eating PB sandwich but warm I can drink it whenever it is cold.

Here's my list of food quirks from the past (I have IC and it severely puts a damper on my food choices now sadly)

*food is usually a vehicle for sauce to be piled upon.
*loved eating butter by itself as a kid (don't know why)
*must have buttered toast with jam (bf thinks its weird)
*loved ranch dressing on pizza at school and got a bunch of other kids to follow that trend.
*love pineapple and sausage pizza
*I used to eat all the chocolate and caramel from the Twixt bars and savored the cookie last, I only do this in private as I realize the ramifications as well as jokes that would come.
*I used to drink Arby's 3 Pepper sauce cause I loved it so much.
*loved ketchup and macaroni and cheese together, especially if it wasn't that great.
*i dip my fries in my milk shake.
*when eating skittles, i separate by color and eat the red and purple first. then i eat the yellow, orange, and green one at time until its all gone.
*i used to eat a slice of orange and a Hershey kiss in an alternating fashion.
*i mixed my cheddar grits with eggs and bust the yolk, sausage, jelly and something spicy (or spicy pickles) or if I'm really lucky spicy jelly!
*I used to mix the Polynesian sauce with the Spicy dressing from Chickfila to dip both sandwich and fries and finally scrape it with my finger to clean the wrapper.
*I used to eat my breakfast sandwiches with grape jelly.
*I used to add sugar to my Korean spicy ramen to make sweet and spicy!
*I used to eat my fried chicken with a honey/hot sauce mixture.
*I loved milk and rootbeer mixed together! (hey it's a rootbeer float essentially)
*I used to dip my pbj sandwich in beef vegetable soup since elementary and still crave it today.
*if something was bland on my plate, i will mix it with whatever was heavily seasoned and eat it like that (this only occurs at restaurants or potlucks)
*I love eating things that are sweet and salty back to back and have to convince myself to end on a salty note or else i finish both items in one sitting.
*love syrup on my sausage!
