I made the cupcake-stuffed strawberries and brought them to work on my bday a couple weeks ago. I used chocolate cake/frosting and melted choc chips to dip them in though. Very messy and fiddly but ultimately delish :)

Geez, what's with all the Gwyneth hate lately? It's not like a celebrity never released a cookbook before, my goodness.

Thank you for the article about this, I'm going to look into it. I like healthy foods, I like well-written cookbooks, and I don't mind Gwyneth at all.

When I worked in a posh pub in the UK, we made a dessert called Flummery which was pretty much whipped cream/yogurt, raspberries and muscovado sugar with an amaretto biscuit at the bottom. It remains my favourite dessert in the summertime and is usually a showstopper when I bring it for treat day at work.

But here in the states - or at least in my town in Nebraska - I can't find muscovado to save my life. So I use the darkest brown sugar I can find but it's never quite the same *wistful sigh*

Just made this last night/today. Oh my gosh it's delicious! The *only* suggestion I'd have if you're using an electric ice cream maker is that you have to let the mixture chill thoroughly. The recipe says to let it come to room temp so I did, and when I put it in my machine, I still had ice cream soup after 40 minutes.

I put the bowl back in the freezer and the mixture in the fridge overnight and tried again over my lunch hour today. Much better results. It's still kind of soft serve-y, but several hours in the freezer ought to harden it up.

But man, it's delightful. I plan to add some roasted almonds over the top. Mmmm..

I used mine just last night on a batch of roasted tomatoes, onions and garlic. It makes a wonderful sauce for spaghetti or goulash etc. So quick and easy to use and cleanup is easypeasy as well.

Could also do a lovely carrot and parsnip puree, or any multitude of soups with it. It really is one of my favourite kitchen gadgets.

I used to work in a pub/B&B in England and we ladled a bechemel over avocado halves stuffed with crab meat, garnished with some Parmesan cheese and then baked for a few minutes under a broiler to brown the cheese a bit. Fast easy appetizer, and very popular.

Thank you everyone for all of the brilliant suggestions! It will be difficult to pick from these :) For the record, my grandparents are ok with me bringing something extra along because they know I love to cook.

It's a small gathering, just four of us. Loving the idea of bringing amazing bread or some kind of salad or lovely asparagus. Or a wonderful soup... I really don't know what to choose. Thank you for all of the ideas!
