Evie actually gave great advice, but for realsies, this is like finding a feature on vibrators in Martha Stewart Living. Yikes.

Hey AT, I think you *might* have gotten one of the links wrong. Here in Portland we have both a Lizard Lounge and a Lounge Lizard, the latter being the vintage furniture store I'm pretty sure she's referring too. Your link leads to the former, which is a clothing store in the Pearl.

Joan, your apartment is rad, and you can never have too many astrology books. Also, LOVE THE SHOES.

Daniel you've just raised the bar. Jerk. ;p

I have no idea how I found your blog but I love it. Your detailed before and afters are badass, and I love that you are unrelenting and unapologetic about putting time, sweat, and tears into making your home exactly when you want. Its genuinely an inspiration to us renters on a budget!

Can't wait to see what you do with the $5K. ;) Congrats!!!

@WILLS2310 I was unclear about that as well, so I followed all of instructions (including browning the meat) up until it says to put the whole thing in the oven, at which point I transferred it all to a crockpot and cooked on low for approx. 10 hours.

Pros: This recipe is flipping delicious! I made it with beef since lamb was out of my budget, and the whole thing tasted fantastic. Definitely a dish you could use to impress someone special.

Cons: A little more prep/pre-cook time than your average crockpot recipe, but worthwhile in the end. However, I would like to note that this recipe does not freeze well- or rather, reheat well after it's been frozen. I followed the recipe to a tee but it was way too much food for one person (obviously) so I froze servings of it in mason jars so I could just put one in the fringe in the AM to defrost for dinner. However I'm finding that the meat gets kind of chewy and the rest a bit watery, so I think this recipe is best enjoyed within a couple days of making it.

@GREGPGH: You're right, we're guilty as charged. To be fair, no on has said anything overtly sexual, or minimized his great apartment. Forgive us ladies if we get a little excited when we find out there exists a handsome man with an awesome dog AND great design sense- it sets our AT-loving hearts aflutter.

Lovelies I think you launched your new design too soon- SO MANY links don't work. I have faith in you AT, you can get through this redesign of yours, but I'll be missing my fix while you work out the kinks!

Oy, it was not a happy surprise to find the layout change. That said, I can understand why it happened, it's a much more united approach. The thing I loved about the separate websites though was that it was like a collective of sister sites; now it's like a poor man's MarthaStewart.com. I have to say the site feels sterile now, as if in trying to clean things up and make them more uniform you went too far.

I LOVE AT and plan to keep coming back for the content, but I think that if you're serious about sticking with this new design, the header could be bolder, the logo larger, I think the menu would be more user-friendly and visually appealing as tabs. Also please, please, please get rid of this font. I'm sure you all put a lot of thought and work into this and despite all of the kicking and screaming from us it could work, but it's not there yet.

Twenty-six! (i.e. 3 months ago). A tufted white leather 2-cushion sofa I'd had my eye on for a year. I hovered like a vulture until the sale price dropped low enough that my poor grad student self would still be able to eat after I bought it. It's perfect!

I'm pretty sure we're style siblings separated at birth; I have the same desk, same slanted espresso-finish bookshelf, and am also using expedit as a storage bench. Oh, and I live in a Victorian home that was also converted in the 70's. What a trip!!

That said, I like your interpretation! ;) Light, bright clean and yet homey, I'd love to come over! That color on the office wall is LOVELY, peaceful but not boring. Really, really like your space.

Really cute space... to match your brother. ;D In all seriousness, this is wicked cool, I like the pops of orange and the way you've reworked the lockers and crates as dedicated storage for specific items. I'm filled with envy.. and lust. ;p
