I like it! I think it breathes new, youthful life into the desk. And I love the light gray color with the dark wood floors and the golden?/copper-ish? handles!

I think it's brilliant. We're moving (tomorrow actually) and our new home has boring plain Jane frame-less mirrors in the bathroom. I plan to use some rulers to do something similar to spruce them up!

My first thought was mustard yellow... because I think I saw some mustardy yellowish in the brick. But then I realizes the steps are bright red. And I wonder if that would look like ketchup stairs and a mustard door. Hm. So maybe a charcoal gray?

plus... maybe you've gotten (or will get) the majority of the things you and the baby need at showers or shortly after his birth. Since Christmas is getting close, your closets may already be overflowing so you don't need anything else anyway! (you need a lot less stuff that they lead you to believe anyway!)

and CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby and best wishes with labor and delivery!! how very exciting :)

You could get the word out among family members and ask people to donate to a charity (maybe one especially for children during Christmas) in your child's name instead of giving gifts. Not only do you avoid filling your house with loads of plastic toys, but you also bless someone that's less fortunate! Win win!

Oh, we've had our share of nightmare neighbors. I'd say find out if your city has a noise ordinance and call the cops if the music gets unruly. Even if there isn't a specific noise ordinance (but I'd suspect there is) I'd imagine something could be done about neighbors being overly rowdy (especially if it's late at night). Cops helped us when our landlord wasn't doing much. (They put some fear in the rowdy neighbors and we didn't have many more problems.)
Also, you could research your city's code and potentially have some 'blackmail' on your landlord if he continues to do nothing, or tries to evict you. Our old landlord was a slacker in that area.
And lastly, write down everything. Every time you talked to your neighbors, the landlord, a mediator. It might not be necessary (and hopefully it wouldn't be!) but it definitely wouldn't hurt.
And just think... in three more months it won't be your problem anymore!

I made this Saturday night at a friends' house and I'm making it again tonight for my husband! SO GOOD! I left out the nuts so it was little kid friendly. Everyone loved it. THANKS!

That's a totally do-able DIY project. (And a fun one too, I think). Ikea has large plain rugs for pretty inexpensive.

Here's one, just for example... http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40086172

Get some fabric paint. Make a pattern/template out of some masking tape on the rug and then paint! I made a very large curtain this way and it looks great.

And then you can save your money for buying the carpet you really like. Or you might fall in love with the one you made and the reaction you get when you tell people you hand-crafted it!
