we have had a set of six for two years and use them for tea and coffee. We use boiling water direct from a kettle to make the tea and a french press for the coffee. We make about ten cups a day and have never had a problem with them "exploding". We have lost two cups over the years from carlessness (dropping or slipping out of the hand). I only mention this because I would hate them to become unavailable because some twerp complained about them "exploding" when they were probably just being careless.
