So my friend posted this a few weeks ago and I was obsessed. Apparently to buy one, it's over $70,000. The shipping is around $3-5,000 more. And it takes about 2 hours I think to inflate [what? how is that possible?].

My dream isn't crushed, I just need to find some investors. Yep.

Hmm. Yeah I'm not "poor" but, as someone who was antsy after my first real job in my mid 20s, I decided to head to Europe by myself for 5 weeks. I did 9 countries, and stayed in my own room, with my own private bathroom and no bed bugs or weird anything in sight. Most of them included a really lovely breakfast, and were centrally located wherever I was. Never spent more than $85 a night. Although I did splurge in Epernay on a $125 a night room. Even when I go back when I have some more money in my wallet- I don't plan on staying in any place this expensive. Unless I'm going somewhere where there is no culture or anything to do [say, in town for a really exciting conference of some sort], a little bit of planning and some fun research- you can find someplace unique, lovely, and maybe even a little design minded for a lot less [and if you're finicky like myself, you don't have to stay in a hostel either].

[Also, I liked the RoomMate hotels in Spain. They were a little flashy for my taste, but clean, and had some fun little amenities. They were on the pricer side for my particular trip but, nice.]

I feel really... pathetic about this but this evening I was attempting to put up the product on my closet doors, and I totally screwed it up. Or I just can't seem to get all the bubbles out. I've never attempted to put anything wallpaper like up before.
Do I need to get some sort of tool that irons out the air bubbles?
The roll is wider than my actual doors [there are 4, folding doors for the closet] and so I attempted to cut it... well anyways it's just not working out.

I'm so bad at this I think I need a professional. A decorator? Someone who specializes in wallpaper in general?

SO glad AT pointed me in the direction of Praha. I left all my dressers far away in Houston, and have been without a dresser or any real means of clothing storage for the week plus I've been in Chicago. And I found the dresser of my dreams at Praha today- for $210. A serious steal considering the fine condition and quality of it. I shall frequent this place and replace my temporary eye-assaulting items one by one.

I don't think I've ever had a tex-mex dish with olives. Ever. And yes it's not tex-mex.
But, instead of olives, toss in some jalapenos and this would be delicious.

I mean I hate to be a stickler but... come on. But really it looks good!

The Mother Goose lamp! Well, I'm not sure if that's what they're officially called- but that's what everyone in my family calls them. Everyone has one- my great grandmother started buying them at this store in Santa Fe called Doodlet's (a store for people who are bored with 'clean lines' and a lack of clutter). Since then, every family member has had one, its a weird family tradition, not passed down but repetitively bought. Mine is in storage... But this inspires me to bring it out.

I really don't like high beds, and since I'm moving to a place where my bedroom is less than half the size of the one I had before- I know it's going to look odd but I'm afraid of going without a box spring. At the same time, I was inches away from back surgery, and will have chronic upper back pain for the rest of my life after an accident- so I'm fearful of going without a box spring.
I actually have no idea what to go for now- as so many people are into memory foam, and that to me just sounds like a sweaty night of sleep.

And a storage bed was what I wanted- but after looking at the options [even on here] I just really can't stand them. I'd rather have a high bed with an oversized comforter and a non cheesy bed skirt, and some regular ol' plastic storage underneath.

I was trying to figure out what to do with my suzani [which is blue] in my new apartment. Someone suggested I put it over my bed, which I thought would not work since I already have a headboard.... but I really like the way you pulled that off. It works. And since it's a suzani it doesn't look like a college dorm room.
And I've actually only rented once, and didn't have any overhead lighting [yikes].... I'm assuming your landlord ok'd it? I think I read something about that- that most of them don't care as long as you change it back or if it doesn't damage the ceiling to switch what they have up with what you want up.

Love the overall style.

I am moving from a 3 story, 3 bedroom, 1800 sq ft condo in Houston, to a 700 sq ft barely 1 bdrm apartment in Chicago in 2-3 weeks.
I've been in this house for 7+ years, and I am VERY bad about throwing things away, I'm cluttered.

So I have been trying to figure out how to do a major downsize- and as long as the homeowner's association [those are always fun!] let's me, this is what I am going to have to do.

And so thank you for the idea and the information! I guess the best thing is to go ahead and get everything moved, and maybe come back a week or two later and have a big "estate" like sale.

It's going to drive me nuts- I can't remember who makes those travel guides- the stack of colorfully binded city specific travel guides. Anyone?

These are all really helpful to me because I'm applying to schools/hoping to move to Chicago.

But I've also been looking at domu.com

TONS of spots, you can search by every neighborhood specifically, etc.

I haven't acutally looked at any in person [I'm in Houston] but.... it's been helpful to see how much I can expect to be paying monthly in various neighborhoods.

Here's my Chicago question: I feel like the majority of non-high rise apartments I've seen have decks. I mean, for a place that is quite cold in the winter, I was just surprised by the large amount of decks!

#3.Warm/Modern- I love this idea of two combined work spaces for more streamlining. I kind of just want it all as mine- to suit what I'm doing and keep them separate in a dream office that's not tiny. One for more just screwing around online, and the other for more serious, grad school researching and paper writing.

I really love the bingo [?] balls, but I was curious as to how they were displayed. They're in that brilliant blue tray looking thing, but I couldn't tell... what context it was in?
