StevenDougherty, yes, it's the Rodale Institute farm! (If you're in the market for caterers, we also used Rodale Catering, and our guests raved about the food.) We referred everyone to the Holiday Inn and Hilton Garden Inn in Breiningsville, which are just next door to one another. (I don't know as far as the rooms themselves go, but I had a negative customer service experience with someone at the Holiday Inn.)

Shuttles, like everything involved in wedding planning, are a personal choice. I completely agree that $1,000 is a lot of money - I added the figure to give information that might help anyone planning. In my case, almost all our guests were from out of town, the venue was rural, and I knew there would be a lot of drinking. (The rain I mentioned above also made roads very slick that day, and there was heavy fog that night.) Everyone used the shuttle except a handful of family members who drove straight to and from the farm. The cost was worth it to us, because offering a shuttle made a huge difference in our guests' comfort, safety, and ultimately their enjoyment.

Christab, I've heard of using sprays or granules containing coyote urine to deter cats, deer, etc. I've also read a little bit about motion-activated sprinklers (http://www.amazon.com/Contech-CRO101-Scarecrow-Activated-Sprinkler/dp/B000071NUS). I'm thinking of trying the latter to scare off the squirrels digging in my backyard.

In my city (Baltimore), many brick row homes were covered up with formstone. Removing the fake stone and uncovering the brick definitely ups resale value and, at least in Baltimore, helps you make a big step towards being eligible for a historic tax credit. If you go that route, it's worth getting someone with a very good reputation who will keep the brick's integrity.

Otherwise, I've seen a lot of homes that have painted over the formstone, and I actually think it can look pretty good. I've seen neutral and bright colors, and either way I think they look nicer than the original formstone.

I have Crate & Barrel's Davis sectional (in "Darius"), which looks similar but with shorter legs. I highly recommend it.

I've also had MUCH better luck with Crate & Barrel's customer service than with West Elm's, which is important with this type of purchase.

Thanks for your kind words.

You're right about that pothos plant looking sad. I'm not proud! I have a lot of houseplants that have lived long lives, and I've learned that I'm safer watering less frequently (especially since pothos usually springs back quickly). I did water that guy this week, but clearly I waited too long. I'll be giving it some TLC.

I appreciate the rack suggestions, but I'm OK just lining the shoes up. The room isn't very big, and I'm not sure I want to add another piece of furniture.

Wow, thank you all for your kind comments!

The window sills are fairly deep, and there are two more windows on the (white) wall to the right. I opted to not paint the sill because that felt more cohesive, and I just preferred it.

I kept the lanterns high so that they wouldn't compete with the artwork. I've considered but haven't decided about painting the light-colored nightstand.

And I think my pup was busy napping in the other room for the "after," but he loves visitors!

Thanks for the positive feedback! That's a clever idea, Easup - I hadn't heard of those. You could easily adapt this to be more of a footrest by shortening it and then padding it with foam/batting before adding the slipcover.

Hanc, the lamp was from West Elm, and Jancola, the wall color is Rain Storm by Behr (I love it).

I'm working to have the glitches fixed. It should say that the third table is by Etsy seller Blue Ridge Woodworking and the fourth is West Elm's Dover dining table. As for Craiglist, yes, it can be a great resource. Finding something can be just luck of the draw, though, and you might want to have other ready options.
