The negative comments are so predictable! Yes, I like buying things from thrift stores, yard sales, etc. but I'm not above going to a retail stores and I love this store in particular. I think a layered, collected look looks best, too, but if every single thing in a room is thrifted it can look just as poorly done as if everything was bought new. I have two small children and I don't have time to troll through Craig's List, and go to estate sales and thrift stores to furnish/decorate my entire house. Finding that perfectly shaped thrift store lamp, possibly painting it and then finding a great lamp shade for it is an incredibly time-consuming process! And like some have said, these stores are great for discounted bedding and kitchen supples and other things you wouldn't necessarily buy at a flea market.

I'm not quite sure what the first and last look like, but I do know that they're somehow really icky! I wouldn't normally even click on something so...odd...but I was curious to know if I was the only one that felt this way. I guess not!

So funny, I found this same book at the thrift store and we LOVE it. So many old stories that I read as a child that might have gone forgotten had I not found this book. And all for $1.50!

I have the same sofa and probably bought it around the same time, funny! I didn't take much notice of the back cushions until I read your post and now I see that my husband's regular seat is indeed smashed down. The above idea is a good one. I think for now I'll rotate the cushions on a regular basis and see if that helps.

Love this transformation and her blog. I'm lucky enough to live about 1 1/2 from Richmond and I'd love to go on a "thrifting trip" to her favorite spots.

Am I the only one reminded of the Sex in the City episode where Carrie was asked to remove her shoes and someone stole her $400 Manolos? Apparently not everyone removes their shoes regularly in the city!

I hate taking mine off at someone's house. Makes me feel half dressed, short and uncomfortable if my toenails are a bit unsightly. I would never ask guests to remove their shoes, instead I vacuum and mop after they leave!

My mother saved our Richard Scary farm playset and my boys have loved it sooo much. You can find some of these old sets on Ebay, but be prepared to pay!

It should be a known by now that most "repurposing" posts will be commented on immediately by the "stealing" police, whether its milkcrates, paintstirrers, etc. How do we know he stole them? Maybe they were found or given or even bought, as Amanda.Leanne suggested. I can't imagine any sane person snatching up the crates in the middle of the grocery store as soon as the milkman turns his back!

I love this. My great grandmother made exquisite doll clothes by hand for my mother and her sisters. I always wanted to use them in the decor of my little girl's room if I had one...only boys, though!
