Two years ago, my boyfriend of 11 years and I broke up with him and he moved out. Apparently, he was crushed. In those two years, we remained friendly and spoke via text weekly. I consider him my closest confidante, a person I have great respect and admiration for. Last December, he moved into an apartment down the street, and we would see each other in passing often. Ive been in the midst of a deep depression, but my ex was always there with a reminder to keep going and look for positivity. A few weeks ago, he told me he had a new girlfriend--but would still be there for me. What he didnt say is that she lives in the same small apartment building as I do (like, we literally park next to each other). Weird and awkward, but I was ok with it. Then he told me she didnt want him talking to me and he unfriended me on facebook. It hit me like a punch in the stomach. He's not just some ex; I've known him since we were teenagers, and he's always believed in me, knowing what to say and having my back. Just recently, I made a point of telling him how I much I appreciated having him in my life.
By saying we can no longer be friends, it has made seeing him around the neighborhood extremely difficult, considering my fragile mental state. I just started therapy and I hope to get better. But last night, he parked his car right in my parking lot while visiting his girl (instead of the his own space, a 10 second walk down.) I'm not leaving my apartment. This is bad, but my landlady is my mom's bff, they've known each other since childhood. She told my mother that she would see to it that I won't be the one who has to move out. Not sure how that could be legal, but I surely appreciate the sentiment. Sorry, what where we even talking about?

That first one with the yellow painted dresser looked so cool to me that I went out and bought some of that paint and told my mom that I was redoing my dresser. "Absolutely not!" she said because the hand me down piece was something she got at an auction with my sister and I when we were kids and she didn't want it painted whether it was mine of not (it's mine!)

Have you seen what autocorrect does to paint color names? If you're not familiar with this site, it's great for cheap laughs.

RocketScientist, a student recently complained to his principal that "that goth teacher" (me) was giving him a hard time. I don't know how he knew what I used to wear in high school, but I informed him that I didn't think goths were around any more. At least not since I graduated in '98!
Cool stuff here, I'll always have a little goth in my heart. And apparently one can still find traces in my appearance.

The wall color looks just like the paint in my apartment which I wasn't crazy about when I moved in. Now, I love its neutral-ness and plan on keeping it.

Does anyone have any ideas for decorating an angled wall? Should I just look for lightweight stuff and hang them with velcro strips? I've got some nice pieces I'm just afraid that I'll come home to find those velcro will be no match for gravity.

I want that. I was thinking about painting an old dresser in my room and that color would work. Except...I have a huge vintage sign sitting on top of said dresser which is also yellow. What do I do move the sign or choose another color? Or have a big yellow area?

Oooh...my bar cart does not look like any of these. I'm glancing at it right now and it's a hot mess. I have bottles of Pucker's schnapps and other non-sophisticated items that detract from the look I'm going for. Maybe fancying up the bar cart will be today's little project.

My dad had that same chair, and that's pretty much what I did with it. Hey, he put it in the spare room where my sis and I usually played quietly, he had to know we'd balance on the arms. Didn't break it though.

I put up this print http://vintagraph.com/wpa-posters/travel-tourism-posters/6545599 in my room and would love to add more sea creature decor but im afraid of it becoming to "theme-y." Love that whale pillow.

Interesting. My mom just convinced me to buy two different sized throw pillows because I couldn't find two matching green ones. I don't consider myself a symmetry freak, but I don't like it! I want matching!

I ordered "The Little Island" by Margaret Wise Brown for 50 cents on Amazon with the intent of doing this but when the book came in the mail, it was in mint condition. I haven't been able to bring myself to slicing it up yet.

Holy crap look at that atomic starburst end table! I'm having the hardest time finding mid-century furniture and now I'm just jealous.

I bought some really cheep, black curtains and a sparrow stencil intending to spray paint-stencil them. I hung up the curtains to see how they looked and I realized I was all set the way they were.
Maybe a little trim on the edge, like commenters are saying.

I just moved out of my parents' home where I was living while attending college and my room was purple. Purple walls with black and white stuff. I just moved into an old apartment and the bedroom walls looked kinda nice in the light tan color so I left them, thinking I'd buy some colorful wall decor. These pics are really making me miss my purple!
