Provided this is helping, not harming the young trees, I think it's great. In the right environment it could really be lovely. And If you whitewash the trees rather than paint them, it would eventually wear off giving you the option of a more natural look once the trees have matured. Love this, I make something similar but toss in whatever I have on hand - whole wheat couscous, tomatoes, olives, really any veggie that can be cooked works great in this dish, & cheese is always a great addition. I second what Miss Ruth mentioned about the faucets. My apartment are gorgeous vintage bathrooms, and while the claw foot tubs are quite lovely, one of the bathrooms has a sink similar to the one pictured and it's kind of a pain in the ass. Ruined a glass of my favorite $14 Cabernet (Catena 2009 - better than a lot of more expensive options) by pairing it with a piece of eater candy...such a disappointment. Wine and Chocolate: A Pairing To Love... Or Hate? |

I don't have kids but I remember my mother mixing up trail mix for me and my sisters when I was little. We each had our own and she made sure to add things to each bag that only we liked (yogurt covered raisins for me, gummy bears for my older sister, etc.). Having our own bags meant no sharing (something we struggled with) and the addition of candy made the mixture of raw nuts much more special. Also, my dad always gave us blow pops as we were boarding to help us with the pressure change during take off. Aside from Holidays, trips were pretty much the only time my sisters and I ate candy so that did the trick for us. Flying with Kids: What Snacks to Pack for the Plane |

how have I never heard of this before? Also wondering about chickpea flour - not a staple in my pantry, but I do keep a can of chickpeas around for emergencies (when I'm too lazy to soak my beans), would I be able to drain then grind up the chickpeas and use that instead (with less water added to the recipe)? or what about hummus, could you just thin out some hummus and use that? Love soups like this but one thing I have started doing is using chickpeas or cannellini beans instead of potatoes. The beans puree nicely and add enough protein for the soup to be considered a complete meal. Spring Recipe: 'Fresh' Pea Soup Cookbook Review & Recipe from Canal House Cooking Volume No. 6 |
