Wireless can't match hardwired for consistent speed. We switched from wireless to hardwired for most of the desktop computers we own (in home office.) Also, we put an ethernet port in the living room and hardwired our Roku box, vastly improving its performance.

Yes, wireless is good for when you want to check email or surf the web on a laptop from your sofa, patio, etc. but you're subject to sporadic performance.

Most stores offer discounts but you have to ask for them. We've gotten discounts from Artemide, Cisco, DWR, Jules Seltzer and local secondhand shops in LA. We've also called the toll-free numbers on web dealers' sites and gotten lower prices for high end brands by simply asking-- AND if they're shipping to us from out of state we aren't charged sales tax. It NEVER hurts to ask for a lower price in this economy.

I used Martha Stweart's "muslin" a number of years ago, not sure if it's still available. Although it reads more as a white alone, I painted the trim "blossom white" which really brought out the gray-ness of it.

I recently scored a beautiful 1960s Knoll leather sofa from a local secondhand shop for 1/6 the price of a new one.
