I adore grocery shopping. I love going to the produce aisle to see how virtuous I can be on any given day. I love going to the snack-food aisle to see what delicious (but bad-for-me) concoctions the food manufacturers have developed for our consumption.

I'm one of those people who hate shopping with a list. This usually leaves me with a high grocery bill and too much junk food. Oops!

I'm one of these freaks who keep an EverNote just for things in my pantry and fridge. So whenever I have to figure out what to make for dinner, I just have to go to my document to find what I need. Done!

One of my colleagues—a furniture designer—ripped this apart when I was telling him about wanting one. He had valid points, too!

I keep them in the containers they came in, stored in a drawer at work. I take them with breakfast and coffee in the morning; it's automatic.

I eat mine in my cozy cubicle (blonde wood, not the weird fabric/carpet-looking partitions!) every morning after getting to my desk. My computer's on, I'm working, etc., but I find it nice and quaint, almost a ritual!

I do something like this, but with a little less equipment.

Sunday night: Place 1 & 1/2 cups of oat groats with 3x the water. Bring to boil, let it set overnight to "cook."

Monday morning: Put ALL the cooked oat groats in a quart-size mason jar. It should be packed to the gills. Pack my fresh fruit and toppings (shredded coconut, flaxseed meal, etc.) in their separate (smaller) containers. Bring to work and store the cooked oats in the work fridge. Put the other toppings in my desk drawer.

Every day of the week: Take out a serving of the oats, put some fresh milk in it to soften it up, microwave it, and top with the miscellany ingredients that I brought.

This is my breakfast for the entire week!

Hello! I'd recommend the Eastside—Silver Lake, Echo Park, Downtown. You might be able to find a studio or one bedroom for $1200. The Westside—Santa Monica, Venice, etc., might be a bit harder. One HUGE recommendation: Live near where you work. This town is notorious for commuting, but the city is much more enjoyable when you don't have to deal with the traffic on a daily basis.

This is a totally Norwegian thing to do, but I typically put bread in the toaster oven, wait until it gets adequately crispy, then plunk on a sardine or two on the bread. Leave it in there for a bit longer (so the fish can warm up), then take it out, squeeze some lemon on it, and dollop the top with skyr or other thick yogurt. YUM!

(Yes, I know I have very strange tastes.)

I *love* this post. I'm in the same boat, except that I subscribe to a CSA, so I'm usually in a mad rush to finish all my veg during the week before it rots. My pantry is usually ignored as a result. I should make a point to incorporate pantry items into my vegetable dishes.
