When I was 14, we moved out of my childhood home to a new house that was literally 5 minutes away in the same town. However, my sister and I being the stubborn little girls we were, were absolutely resistant to any sort of change.

When I finally accepted that yes, I was moving, I decided to write a note to the new owners - a young couple, just about to have their first child. I hid it under the carpet in the closet, figuring it would be years before anyone tore it up and found my note.

Lo and behold, they call my father 3 weeks later to say they found the note and it made them cry. It's been over a decade and they still have the note, to remind them of the happy memories a house can hold for a family.

Here's the thing I don't understand about all these incredibly expensive small space solutions: If you had the money to spend on this furniture, you probably wouldn't be living in a small space!

I love the idea, and it all looks great but - where are the dressers?! I always have enough room when planning out space - until I reach the dressers. so sure, it's easy to make a small room work when you leave out a main space-taker-upper!

You should also try checking out the individual realtor sites, or even meeting with realtors and letting them know you're only interested in no fee. A lot of the brokers will have exclusives on apartment buildings that will never get posted online, etc. So it is worth it to meet with them - just be firm with no fee! They always try to tell you that there's "nothing" out there in your price range in the area you're looking, especially for no fee - but that's a total lie. If you're willing to put in A LOT of time and A LOT of effort, the perfect apartment is out there!
