I love testing out the cookbooks at the library, but even MORE I like to buy used library copies online. You can get a $40 cookbook in like-new condition for around $15, and it'll often have the plastic library covering still on it (which is great for the messy kitchen environment). Blue Moon has some great seasonal brews - Full Moon, their winter brew, is pretty tasty, but I especially like their Harvest Moon sliiightly pumpkin-y fall brew! Also, next time you've got some leftover beer (of the dark and flavorful sort), try using it in a beer bread (the Bread Bible has a good recipe).
