Apartment Therapy - Good Questions: Cat-Friendly Curtains?

Thanks for the comments, everyone. A lot of people have mentioned covering windows with various types of blinds - but do you think covering a double door with blinds will be the same? I'm not saying it won't - I've just never covered a door with blinds and am wondering what to do differently with a door than I would with windows. Any suggestions?! :)

Thanks for the tips, everyone! Any others are also welcome. We rescued these two cats as kittens when their owner was going to abandon any of the litter that he couldn't get rid of, and never had pets before this so we're learning as we go. :) I have never used blinds over a double door before so it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Thanks for the comment, Dot! I'll check out some Roman shades. We DO actually have a third bracket in the center, though it is coming out due to the pulling/weight. They were fine until the cats learned they could jump on and pull at the curtains. I didn't install the brackets/rod myself so I have no idea if they're mounted to studs but I can check. Thanks again! Is there a brand you - or anyone - likes of these shades?

I love the personality in this entry and think it's a great design. I think the layout looks really effective. As far as bed placement, you mentioned you're using it as seating occasionally so it makes sense not to put it in the arch and push the couch against it. I think the whole thing is great - particularly the Wake Up, green couch and bookshelves. Great job.

I LOVE this. I have similar men/women bathroom graphics outside our hall bath and was happy to see them here. I also love your extra toilet paper storage, the gorgeous bank of photos in the dining area and great lighting above the table. Love the splash of color with the red door and the great magnetic spice cannisters/hold-alls above the stove/range. I also noticed how you separated the wooden/black/metal cooking tools into separate containers - very detail oriented at the same time as providing a cohesive, great-looking bigger picture. Great home!

I love the grid-wall and the way you painted your bedroom walls. The border in the bedroom is a great idea! I also think your bathroom looks bright and cheerful, but having all those small additions (on the window, radiator, lavatory) would make me worried about knocking something off or make me feel claustrophobic. If in reality they don't get in your way, great!

I love your supergraphic, and also love the description of your bathroom! I have a dry erase board in my bathroom for friends to decorate and think a paint pen would be stellar. Also love the SAT words curtain idea (wish I could see how it played out) and also the idea of changing posters for the bands/music you love.

JennyinATL,

With so many posts on AT in a given day, it's natural there will be a few typos and grammatical errors. Including in your own comment, where you wrote "a apostrophe" instead of "an apostrophe." Copy editor isn't traditionally hyphenated, as you typed it. The period you used outside "s" should have been inside the quotes so that it appears "s." for stylistic reasons. You note that they should pay as much attention to the writing as the design, but I think you should pay more attention to the design and quit worrying about the grammar.

Just my thoughts, not meant to be offensive.

Jeanette
