So bright & beautiful. I especially love those two green chairs--where did you find them? Love your room!

I love the energy and welcome of this apartment, and I see your love of color. That said, I'm afraid I agree with those who find it disunified and cluttered. I'd love to see a few changes and see you enter the contest again in the future—there's so much life here! Here are some of the things I'd do (listen or ignore as you will): The dark blue chair works so well with that wonderful rug. Why not make the two sofas the same blue, and all the pillows that vivid red/orange. It would remain lively but more unified and the colors would all play beautifully together: couches, rug, coffee table fabric.
I'd increase the size of that main bookcase in the living room so you can eliminate the little one by the window. Leave the space by the window empty, or hang a long, narrow piece of art or fabric that works with the overall colors. But if you adore having books on every wall, make the little bookcase the same height as the big one. Better lines, and more space for books.
In the dining space, no table cloth, just placemats that work with the rug colors. But if you desperately want a tablecloth, ditch the blue and stripe and go for something solid that echoes the rug. Then again—you love color. What about a tablecloth in those wild Mexican colors (make it work with the rug, though). Remove all those piles in the corner.
In the bedroom, make both dressers the same blue and… you've probably heard enough from me. I love your joy, and the sense of welcome in your home. I'll bet when you set out to weed the books you get "booktrapped" (my daughter's word) and wind up reading instead of weeding. Enjoy your friends, coffee, books, textiles, art, music, and kilims!

Love your joy and color. I can agree with various suggestions, and yet... I'd hate to do anything that reduces the delightfulness of your place. I can imagine coming home to this every day and smiling the moment I walk in.

Only thing I'm not so crazy about is the bedroom being part of the livingroom, with no separation at all. But I still love the colors. Oh, crazy idea--what's that dressing area like? Could it become a bedroom (or bed nook!) and rearrange a bit so your living room is really all living room?

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. I love the fireplace, the two sitting areas (although I'd need an office or I'd leave a paper trail everywhere). I like the repetition of the lights--lovely, soothing, unifying. I don't even like these colors but you may be converting me, a little. I love your place!

I love the colors in the main rooms, so warm and bright. With all your windows the light is wonderful. I'd have a bed rail... but I totally get having a loft bed--this is after all 360 sq. feet! Less than 20'x20' to include EVERYTHING. I don't know whether I COULD edit down to so little though I like to think I could. And where, oh where, did you get those living room chairs? I would love to find a set like that.

Reminds me of a cousin's house, with similar wood, glass and light--but my cousin's house is peaceful and delightful, not dark and depressing like this. Like Dulcibella, I'd like to know --does anyone have insight into why this glory of wood and windows is so somber?

What a delight! I called my 18-year-old daughter over and she proclaims this "the world's best living space." I would live here. (With a staff to do the dusting.)

I read fantasy and science fiction but hadn't realized that steampunk had jumped out of science fiction books into mainstream culture. It probably happened a decade ago and I'm just catching on. How marvellous to see it expressed in other areas, and so wonderfully.

hmmm... a parson's cupboard was used, as I understand, to store a bottle or two of the very best spirits to be offered to the Parson (or similarly important people, perhaps) when they visited. I bet the story got reversed during Prohibition!

Love the idea of the coffin door. Very practical!
