this comes to mind: What Would Be a Less Expensive Way to Recreate These Built-In Bedroom Drawers? Good Questions |

in my research all of these were more expensive than a traditional concrete or asphalt drive way, and most require some periodic maintenance to make sure they continue to drain properly Green Your Driveway with Permeable Paving |

i would recommend using a slow cooker you don't cook with. the disposable liners break down and eventually fail, letting the dirty water into the cooker. i put a small pyrex dish in the slow cooker to hold the hardware and it made it much easier to remove all the hardware at once and made for easier cleanup. put water around & inside the pyrex dish, similar to a double boiler Chemical-Free Paint Removal in a Slow Cooker The Family Handyman |

thanks for the info allisonnf. i don't know if there is anyway to determine which is worse for the environment? its mentioned in one of the earlier comments, that the eames family requested the change to plastic. was this charles & ray, or their heirs? i personally will never buy the real plastic HM version. the plastic seems much cheaper than the fiberglass. i always see people claiming the fiberglass is toxic. i know its not without its faults, but if proper safety precautions are followed, its production is not a health issue. can anyone back up the toxic claim with more information? i have several vintage shell chairs, knockoffs, that i purchased for $1 a piece. they are in immaculate shape. i will be purchasing some new ones from modernica, once they resume production, to match & supplement my existing chairs. i personally am not a fan of straws for anything but milkshakes & smoothies. i will say that iced tea, whether sweet or not, should only be sipped straight from the glass. is anyone else with me on this? Why Drinks Taste Better When Sipped Through a Straw Fine Cooking |

i like this alot. better than the original. whether its eames or not, $249 is really steep for a coat rack. i would imagine you could make one for alot cheaper... New Limited Edition Eames Hang-It-All in Walnut |

i am running plex on a hackintosh. it was cheaper to build a solution with lots of storage, than daisy chain hard drives to a mini. it runs seamlessly though on both. i set it up on a mini for my brother. i also programmed my logitech remote to run all the functions. i have used boxxee, but it was geared too much for social networking. i don't facebook or twitter, so i didn't really need those features. the plex interface is very slick, and best of all, its free. i would highly recommend Plex on the mac mini, or an mac for that matter. its a great media center. more functional than frontrow. lots of streaming plugins, netflix, hulu, etc. plus its free. similar to boxxee, but a much cleaner interface. you can also program your universal remote to operate it. i would highly recommend the steelcase think chair. i only paid a little more than 300 for mine new, about 2 years ago. i still have a life chair by knoll, which i bartered for. but i would much rather have my steelcase chair. its also cradle to cradle certified. if you know any designers, ask them to get it for you. we get good discounts on designer furniture. check with your local soft drink manufacturer, coke, pepsi, etc. they use large (often white) food grade barrels that contain syrup (probably corn). often they will sell them quite cheap. $10-15 bucks. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | How To: Make a $25 DIY Rainbarrel |

i am a registered architect. while i appreciate the goals behind LEED, i think that you should reconsider that requirement for your position. i really think you are limiting your selection with this requirement. LEED accreditation is not required to work on a LEED project, so why should it be required to write about it? there has recently been a large push for LEED accreditation in our office, but having the designation means nothing if you don't "walk the walk". i work with a large number of people, who don't carry the LEED accreditation, but they bring more experience & knowledge of green design, and green living on a daily basis, to the table than most of the LEED accredited professionals in our office. i could give numerous examples, but this post would be pages. also, the recent restructuring of the whole LEED accreditation process has also been a big turn off, to a large number of people. maybe i am missing something, and if anyone has some insight, please fill me in. almost any tile or stone store will have remnants laying around. usually because they don't want to pay to dump them. i have picked up quite a few over the years. they make great cutting boards & table tops for small tables. i would definately put feet on them if they are for cutting boards. good idea art. lots of times they will just give them to you, if you pay to have them cut, or the edges finished. but usually they are quite cheap, if you do have to pay for them at all. paying them to do the finishing & cutting seems to be win-win. you get what you need cheap, they make a little money, and nothing ends up in the dumpster. pc at work. mac laptop & hackintosh (mac OSX loaded on non-mac hardware) media server at home runnin Plex. each has there own function, and do it well. although i would trade my pc at work for a mac if i could. i just like macs better. i would highly recommend checking out os86project.org if you are interested in building your own mac from scratch. a fun project, good learning experience, and a whole lot cheaper. if you like to tinker with computers, its a fun project. i don't have kids, but the post caught my eye. as a music lover, glad to see this discussion taking place. i have given several friends kids the Medeski Martin & Wood CD, Let's Go Everywhere (check out the funky song Cat Creeps & Where's The Music) and the classic Jerry Garcia/ David Grisman album Not For Kids Only. this chair is incredible. even if i had the money, i still would not buy it. there is so many better things i could do with 4k. if it only takes 5 craftsman 12 hours to produce this chair, thats approx $334 an hour. thats pretty ridiculous. i know these crafts men are talented, but again, thats ridiculous. just my opinion though. alabama has almost every type & variation of barbeque, white sauce in north alabama, mustard based, ketchup based, sauceless barbecue in thomaston, west alabama, its great, just don't ask for sauce, its in the meat! greensboro alabama is the catfish capital, anyway you like it. fried chicken. greens, greens, & more greens. special sauce on burgers & dogs in birmingham, alabama, every place has their own variation. where else can you get a ground beef special sauce on top of a burger? no, its not chili. milo's sauce anyone? creamed corn. what about blackberries. and last but not least, hot sauce. you can put it on almost every food mentioned in this thread. especially delicious on okra. i think the louisiana post forgot to mention boudin. best from road side stands & small mom & pop groceries.
