I have 2 modernica rocking bases and one from a guy I found on ebay.
I prefer the one I found on ebay because it has 90 degree sides like the original, the modernica one is rounded like a pontoon on a boat.
Also the ebay one is cheaper.
It's been over 2 years, so I'm not sure if this is the same guy I bought from.
I am very pleased with mine. Good Luck

Before I read the whole post I was going to say chartreuse.
I see you wrote that. I think it would be great, especially with the brown leather. I have some daring colors in my house, well at the time I painted them they were. But friends of mine did an intense chartreuse and it looks incredible. I wish I had used it in one of my guest rooms. Very uplifting. Good luck with your choice.

Apartment Therapy - Good Questions: What Vibrant Wall Color Goes With this Rug? ?

My current favorite color is Orange. Well, if current means, for as long as I can remember.
I can be a curmudgeon by the time I get home from work. The orange I've used throughout my house always makes me feel better, and puts me in a better mood. How can you not feel happy when you see the color orange?

Neither of them hold a flame to Marc Newson. He is a genius. I do appreciate much of what philippe Starck does. However, Karim Rashid is the most over rated designer living. Horrible design, and his designs are so contrived. I have never been attracted to one single design of his. I think you can tell when he designs something, he only uses a few different forms and motifs. His arrogance is enough to turn anyone off to him. He has so much bravado that people think he matters. I do not understand why people are afraid to criticize him, it is obvious his designs are bad. Does he have something on all magazine editors or something?

Lunchtime Survey: S arck v. Rashid

No one had more fashion, graphic and design magazines than me. I had a ritual to go buy them on a Saturday morning. I went cold turkey once I discovered all the great design blogs like this one. They show the same new products a lot sooner than the mags do. Now I save money, have more time on Saturdays, more room at home and I read all the blogs at work! So it's a win, win situation for me. And I'm not contributing to more waste. I even gave up my collection of "wallpaper" magazine from issue one. It cleanses the soul to let go of things like that, you truly won't miss them.

Good Questions: How Can I Let Go of My Mags?

I have a real knoll womb chair in leather that I bought new 6 years ago. If I ever get evicted from my house, I will never give up that chair, I will strap it to my back like a tortoise shell and live on the street with it. :-) It is a chair that i might sit in once a month. From the beginning 2 screws on the frame that connect to the under arm area are loose and the chair will wobble when guests sit in it if they move around. I'm beginning to question Knoll quality. It's my fault for not sending it back right away and requesting a new one. I have a feeling the fabric and foam will be the real difference between the chairs and not the frame or shell.

Good Questions: Should I Spring For a Knockoff?

Have you researched the dowel leg? I seem to see many of these with splits in the wood where the screws at the top of the leg are attached. I've even noticed it on chairs in modernica's store. I agree that the Modernica shell is the way to go if you don't find a vintage one. I only buy HM products and not knock-offs, but I hate the plastic HM version. This is the one product I have strayed from my rule. I have purchased Moderica bases for my vintage shells but not the dowel legs because of the splitting.
