wood filler/bondo would do the trick. I've seen that stuff get used on the bottom of old rocking chairs to help restore it.

as for the chewing yes, a board puppy is the chewing devils playground. get that pup some stuffed animals, rope with knots, and other various chew toys. The stuffed animals make the biggest messes, but it's kept mine from chewing on the couch

A colleague of mine swore up and down he did the math on the savings for one of these. First off they are NOT cheap. secondly they are more effecient than the standard wh's... but in the long run he said this thing would have to be in service for 20years to pay off the difference. I haven't done the math myself, but i trust he did his homework right.

So it's something to think about.

Saffron Marigold has duvet covers with Indian/Moroccan prints, the have a burnt orange/red print that seems to match. It's actually the same one my gf bought a little while back.
