I do something similar to this. I also include the closest pharmacy/convenience store, grocery store, coffee shop, etc if they are guests that I won't be with all day. That way they know where to go if they need or want anything.

I will have to agree with the other folks who say there is no shame in buying something if you love the look but cannot afford the price tag. Honestly, I don't know how so many people pay thousands of dollars for this stuff. My money goes towards rent, tuition, retirement, charity, and all of the other things that mean more than a name tag.

One of the most "real" AT house tours; it is interesting and still savvy. Love it.

I want to live here! Not only do I love the apt, but I'm very jealous of your view. As a Chicagoan now living in NYC, no Manhattan view can top Lake Michigan.

My room looks very similar to bedroom #1, but slightly lighter. If anybody is curious, the color is Benjamin Moore Silver Satin. Couldn't love it more.

I want that apartment AND Jake. Is that asking for too much?

I'm pretty sure I live around the corner from this (based on the view). My new goal in life is to become friends with these folks. Wish me luck.

"...just because your home is suburban, doesn't mean you are!"

How does a site like this post such rude copy?

And people buy cookie cutter homes and work to make them unique for lots of reasons, i.e. cost, proximity to schools, safety. It doesn't mean they have no creativity whatsoever. It may have been the best option for them at the time.

I don't even live in suburbia), but I do find the city snobbery obnoxious.

beakers! If you work in a lab, you know these are pretty expensive, but often replaced, cracked, chipped, etc.

Bonus: they come in many sizes!

Hardwood floors are beautiful and I have them myself, but there I'll never understand why there is such an air of snobbery against carpeting. i can understand if it's dirty or some heinous shade, but otherwise, it don't see why it's so egregious. We put down rugs, anyways!

You probably don'e want more color choices, but I just painted my bedroom walls BM Silver Satin and I love it. A nice soft light grey that doesn't have too much of a color tint in any direction.
