Wonderful insight, from the post and the comments. Was going to go about hanging things today and realized I just have too many things that I want displayed in too small of a space; an asymmetrical grouping like this is probably the only thing that's going to work for me.

I definitely don't have the tools, money, space, or ability to do something on this scale, but I may potentially attempt something smaller, with a fold-out leg instead of cables on the ceiling. Thanks for the inspiration!

A possibility for my cheap-o, ugly old desktop monitor. I'd definitely use a different pattern, though - this one makes me think of old-school Volkswagen faux-wood siding panels.

Oooooh, I think I may do this! I don't have anything to go above my bed, my walls are plain white that I cannot paint, and I have a favorite song lyric. This would be awesome....definitely keeping it in mind, thanks for the inspiration!

I LOVE this idea - simple, functional way to add a pop or color, and some ease to your night-time routine.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't be able to get away with liquid nails. But thanks for the idea, and for everyone else's comments about alternative suggestions. When I scrape together some extra cash, this will definitely be an idea to spruce up my apartment's old ugly, stained linoleum.

I can understand why some people would get sick of white after awhile, but when it comes to the kitchen my germophobe self prefers the sterile look - easy to see when something is getting dirty! I think the aqua accent wall looks awesome - you could even paint the knife holder to match!

Just had to share this little bit of serendipity: turns out, the closest IKEA is just down the road from the SPCA I'm already driving to next week to get my cat spayed. This makes me so excited, gator bathmat and blue bags here I come!

I just moved to Florida, home of the Gators, and my bathroom is blue and green....that alligator bathmat is now at the top of my must-have list. Fingers crossed there's an IKEA nearby, otherwise the next friend that visits is going to have to pack an extra item!

I see the potential here, but this particular grouping doesn't really do it for me.

I wish there were a database of some sort in order to locate which landfills actually allow people to pick through them; after reading this article I got really excited and looked up my local landfill, drove about 10 miles out only to find out it's not open to the public. Is there any sort of website or message board that helps people locate the best dumpster-diving locations around them?

This is so brilliant! I love that you reused something you already had (including the mirror itself, took me a few looks before I spotted that) and turned it into something completely different. Goes with the decor of the room, and I think the candles look adorable. The only thing I would say would be to find a way to hide that outlet - with the inside painted black it would be pretty easy to camouflage, as it is it kinda sticks out of an otherwise flawless design.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE books, and am struggling with the same dilemma - how to keep all of the ones I want in a very small space. But I kind of fail to see how sticking a few in random places all over = some sort of design concept.
