Ditto other commenters. I'd do a paler or brighter house paint, one that contrasts with the brick. I think if the brick stands out more, it would provide balance and really showcase all the features. I personally like the white trim, and the window box. Add some bright POP flowers, like hot pink, or red, and it will also help create a new focal point. Should I Change the Roofline on My New House? The sink is an awfully expensive and hard to replace area of the kitchen or bath with a rather long lifespan....I'd rather keep my statement pieces in the accents. Love the colors though - but not on a sink. Sneak Preview: Jonathan Adler's Colorful New Sink Collection for Kohler |

Great roundup. I too went to the High Point Market and was amazed at all the wire-cage design going mainstream. Along with rivets, both small and huge. 4 Favorite Trends from High Point High Point Market Spring 2012 |

My grandmother passed away this past summer, and her home is on the market now. I want with all my heart to buy it, but it's in another city from where I've made roots, and I cannot afford 2 mortgages. It breaks my heart, but without grandma, the house is not a home. I inherited her living room furniture (1950's style) and have incorporated it into my own space, which I feel is a great memorial to my past and my future. Saying Farewell to a Home |

Love these awards for introducing me to new blogs each year, but I do feel that they are more like a popularity contest of rabid readers versus a judgement of top-notch blogging, like in prior years. And The Winners Are... The Homies 2012 |

I'd go solid, in either beige or chocolate brown, and use interesting patterns for sheets and pillows. That rug is awesome - I'd want it to be the focal point. Bedding To Coordinate with This Rug? Good Questions |

It seems like eclectic style in itself is a trend these days, but that has always been my thing, from home decor to fashion. I would never buy a trend for trend's sake, but would also never deny myself a trend for trend's sake either. And yes, I have a cardboard stag head AND a yellow and gray bedroom. Oh the horror! My kids want bean bags for Christmas to lounge in their rooms and watch movies, but they are 7 and 3 years old. I cannot imagine a day when I'd want one for our living area, no matter how classed up they look. Grown-Up Chic or Old-School Has Been? Modern Bean Bag |

Grey is so neutral that there are very few colors that don't work well with it! I like the color in the 2nd image, but might (personally) lean a little more green - Himalayan Mist or Soar by Behr are two examples. Then you could keep red accents if you wanted - or keep everything else crisp and white. Pale blues and aquas are so calming in a bedroom. What Paint to Match Our Bedding? Good Questions |

It would be really interesting to see a true American average versus "new construction since 2003", as well as how home sizes will likely shrink from 2010 through at least 2015 due to the economic downturn. I think 2003-2010 was an era of vast expansion that we will likely never see again. Average Home Sizes Around the World |

I used to live in Charleston, which has similar architecture. We modernized our interior color palette and painted the moulding a crisp, semi-gloss pure white. Furniture should have curved lines if possible, but solid colors! Our interior was mostly sunny yellow with navy and white furniture and accessories. Patterns only on pillows and art. It's easy to look overboard with such elaborate architecture. LOVE Savannah...I bet your place is awesome! How To Modernize 18th Century Savannah Home? Good Questions |

The rise of upcycling and plethora of DIY videos and articles online has made me much more open to buying on Craiglist and at estate sales. This is going to sound ridiculously hard to believe, but my entire home was outfitted in furniture for under $500. Only 2 items in the whole house were purchased new. What We Spend on Furniture |
