Ditto other commenters. I'd do a paler or brighter house paint, one that contrasts with the brick. I think if the brick stands out more, it would provide balance and really showcase all the features. I personally like the white trim, and the window box. Add some bright POP flowers, like hot pink, or red, and it will also help create a new focal point.

It would brighten up the room and be an investment that can stay if you renovate the room down the road.

For the grab bar by the toilet, there will be some huge holes there once you remove it, and probably anchors drilled deep into the wall. If you could find some pink tile at a salvage place or online, you could probably replace the tiles pretty easily with one of those kits you can find at the home stores.

It seems like eclectic style in itself is a trend these days, but that has always been my thing, from home decor to fashion. I would never buy a trend for trend's sake, but would also never deny myself a trend for trend's sake either. And yes, I have a cardboard stag head AND a yellow and gray bedroom. Oh the horror!

I like the Coqo, I think it would add a bold pop to your room but look good with the furniture.

Grey is so neutral that there are very few colors that don't work well with it! I like the color in the 2nd image, but might (personally) lean a little more green - Himalayan Mist or Soar by Behr are two examples. Then you could keep red accents if you wanted - or keep everything else crisp and white. Pale blues and aquas are so calming in a bedroom.

It would be really interesting to see a true American average versus "new construction since 2003", as well as how home sizes will likely shrink from 2010 through at least 2015 due to the economic downturn. I think 2003-2010 was an era of vast expansion that we will likely never see again.

We (family of 4) just recently downsized from 2400 sq ft to 1300, not counting our basement. The smaller space feels so much more cozy and homey, and we are actually using it more efficiently.

I used to live in Charleston, which has similar architecture. We modernized our interior color palette and painted the moulding a crisp, semi-gloss pure white. Furniture should have curved lines if possible, but solid colors! Our interior was mostly sunny yellow with navy and white furniture and accessories. Patterns only on pillows and art. It's easy to look overboard with such elaborate architecture. LOVE Savannah...I bet your place is awesome!
