lol zapzap & lepidoptery. i'm confused about the coasters too--when i first looked at it i thought they were being re-purposed as cat/pet dishes. anyway, they're pretty. but why on the floor?

also... re the very last one Home Decorators "Collection Sunburst Antiqued Gold Wall Mirror $319", Target has the very same on their website. If compare the highest-res of the one from Target vs. that other website they are the exact same image, with the exception that the mirrored part of Target's is a smooth gradient. anyway, i actually looked for it at Target and the finish is nothing like what's pictured on the site. Still, $25 plus some metallic paint and you could probably get it looking pretty close.

i love the cat door, and having the litter box in the closet. i wish i could put a cat door in mine, it's such a challenge to find a spot in a small apartment to put the liter box.

i agree, definitely not affordable.

tenthousandvillages.com has a couple {i think} nice ones, $50-$150.

i agree... going from nothing to something doesn't count as before and after, why not just post the 'after' picture...

i am contemplating a similar turquoise as an accent wall in my bedroom.

Q. for other AT readers... do turquoise/teal and "plum" go together?... the purple/plum found here...:

i originally thought of a darker/deeper blue and similar purple/plum scheme but then teal seemed better but now im back to thinking they clash...

i live in a tiny studio and my dream is not to have a house but just to have a real bedroom :) ive come to appreciate what i have now, it's cozy and i dont have to buy much to make it feel "complete" and home-y. and the few purchases that i do make, i can afford to spend a little more on for stuff that i like, so i look at it as a positive for the time being.

i love the desk with the built-in lightbox (assuming that's what it is), very sleek.

in defense of the post, i just tried this and think it's great, it really only takes a few minutes (aside from letting the vinegar sit)---i never used baking soda to clean my sink before, i did that step 3x before the paste wasn't a grimy brown color (and my sink didn't look dirty at all beforehand, i clean it out routinely with orange cleaner). everything is also very *squeaky* clean now :)

"Hang the monkey." LOL

i like the look of a big piece of artwork, preferably canvas. if you're going to stick with the light blue and browns perhaps a piece of artwork with mainly those colors (or whatever others you chose) but with with touches of contrasting/complementing colors, like a saturated orange or peach.

Good lord those are all so incredibly overpriced and, to me, aesthetically displeasing. Except maybe the last one, with the glass top. Still not worth $200 to me though.

Some great ideas in the comments, I had no idea there was such a thing as magnetic paint. RkyMtnHrse, do you have a picture anywhere of the project you describe?

I'm in a studio with no windows but one big drafty patio door. Last winter my heating bill was over $150 and my studio is only ~450ish sq.! My landlords have so many restrictions on what things may look like from the outside. I am now thinking of hanging heavy/"thermal" curtains and possibly somehow incorporating that magnetic paint... It seems to be a choice between saving on my heating bill or foregoing natural light...
