well I'm sitting in a Eero Saarinen Executive 'style' chair from a London store called Interior Addict (www.interioraddict.com) which I can vouch for in comfort and build quality, at £199.

And all the things I've seen in their store seem good quality, albeit I am no expert in this area.

AND they have the sofa I covet but not at £8,000.... still, it is £1500 so in terms of what that would buy elsewhere I am expecting a high quality BUILD regardless of styling.

I'm actually about to spend some cash on a replica/whateveryoucallit sofa.

Whilst I could just about afford an original of SOME of the things I want, I ABSOLUTELY cannot afford the £8,000 on the sofa that I am lusting after. Just can't do it.

I like the idea of buying the real thing but the majority of those things would be via a vintage dealer or reseller anyway rather than direct with manufacturer. Not sure if that has a relevance/bearing on the 'supporting the designer' argument.

I've recently finished an overhaul of the bathroom in my first flat; went overbudget but having erred on the side of tasteful and good fixtures I'm happy I can ENJOY the bathroom for 5yrs or more AND add value when I come to resell because the style and quality of fittings were not the cheapest I could find.

wouldn't a mirrored wall by a speaker play havoc with high frequencies? Room looks AMAZING just playing devils advocate!

Very clever use of the space and division of it, and great design to make it all feel bigger, particularly the bedroom with the dark floor.

"It really became about balancing the feeling of being settled with the enjoyment of the process of getting there."

Very well put and as a first time flat owner I am currently going through that.

Nice results with your place, really like the lounge feel.

I'm thinking about replacing 2 or 3 doors in my one bed flat with curtains as a way of bringing in colour and texture AND saving space where the door is open - as I live on my own I never close the doors anyway.

Need to persuade the missus though!

Main reason I want a headboard is really for comfort when sitting up in the bed, as the wall is cold and I don't want to be constantly repositioning pillows. Also I have a shaved head so tends to leave a 'grease' mark on the wall if I lean my head against it so want to avoid that as well!

I have similar upstairs noise and am looking at having a false ceiling put in for aesthetic reasons but getting the builder to put in insulation that I believe also assists with sound reduction.

Wow - I am trying to get the balance right between home studio set up that doesn't look out of place in my room.

My cable solution for monitor/tech wires is an mdf panel mounted 2" from the wall where all the wires run behind, along with an Ikea Signum cable tidy hanging off the desk.

WISH I had a 2nd room!

Great question - indeed the origin of any of those posters would be good to know.
