Great job! I really like the contrast and think the new porch looks awesome! I think the reason it looks out of place to some is that there's nothing tying it to the rest of the house. I would love to see all of the non-brick siding painted the same grey (or a couple of shades lighter) as the porch floor to really tie it all together. And then a full exterior 'after' picture, of course ;)

a) Cozification should definitely be a word.
b) The 'after' looks like a tree house for grown-ups!

I think the color of your house needs to be taken into consideration. Also, something that will look nice when the plants are dormant (depending on where you live). I think a slightly greener light blue (kind of a pale turquoise) would look great with terracotta pots!

We assembled and installed IKEA cabinets in our kitchen 3 years ago and have no complaints whatsoever. They also came with a 25 yr guarantee (if that helps put your mind at ease).

I think I might like the 'after' better if I had never seen the 'before'. They're both lovely in their own ways (and I really drooled over the pool), but it just seemed so romantic and fairy-friendly before.

The Old North St Louis tour features civil war era through modern day homes in the closest neighborhood to downtown St Louis. Old North has won numerous awards for sustainable urban renewal and is definitely worth a look. This years tour is on May 19th so mark your calendars if you're going to be anywhere near St Louis!

I almost didn't click on the link because I figured it was going to be a "clean up, paint blue and maybe add some new hardware" kind of transformation. Instead it's something totally different and totally.... awesome!!!

Thanks for the inspiration! I've been wanting to incorporate bunk beds into a room and couldn't quite see how, but now I think I've got it!

Very easy on the eyes. Comfortable and relaxing without pretense. Well done.

I too would really like to know where the tricycle and trailer came from.

When my husband and I converted a warehouse for our home/studio use a lot of people assumed we would want to put in SS and granite. Without offending anyone, I tried to explain that in a few years they will look as bad/dated as our parents' avocado green and harvest gold appliances. Plus they don't show much creativity/individuality IMO.

I am not much of a swoon-er, but the backsplash in your bathroom actually gave me heart palpitations!!

@meowlady I too have cat/plant problems. For now I have only a few small plants that I cover with glass bell jars. I makes a nice display and so far there have been no "incidents".

Overall I love this room! If I could change one thing I would put in french doors, but that's just me. Your actual style/choices are spot on!

Thanks for the great feedback!

@michael.peterson (and anyone else wondering) The 'industrial' refers to the room. It's in a warehouse, has concrete floors, brick walls and warehouse windows (maybe this does not come through in the pics?). The 'Scandinavian' refers to the decor (art/lamps/ceramics etc...) which is almost entirely from my native Denmark. Also, though it wasn't why I chose the colors, the Swedish flag is blue and yellow. That said, I can see where not everyone would recognize these aspects. I hope that helps : )

This room has SERIOUS jungle room potential. Elvis would certainly have put plants and a fountain there!
