I once visited a man in his apartment and he had a bookcase full of beautiful, leather bound books. He told me he had bought them with the apartment because they looked good. I never saw him again.

Love Rustoleum! I used it to re-do the interior of my medicine cabinet. Looks new now. What a big difference even small changes can make.

I have a good sized succulent garden that I created using 99% FREE cuttings from a gardening group I found online. Check out gardenweb.com for local groups.
As Cathycolson pointed out, you should also check out craigslist for free give aways. Whenever I am thinning out my garden, I put a notice on Craigslist and just leave the cuttings in the car port. I'd rather give the plants a shot at life elsewhere than throw them away.

When I visited Dallas, I had the same experience. I was so surprised at how lush everyone's gardens were. Houston gets so much humidity that I don't imagine succulents would be very happy living there.

Plant what grows easily in your area. Gardening is work enough without struggling against nature. I live in the valley (Los Angeles) where it is very hot in summer and generally dry. For the first few years in our new home, I referred to my garden endeavors as "experiments" and I knew a lot of them would fail. That was okay! You will know your garden is successful when your plants propagate to the point where you are giving new pups & volunteers away. Gardening teaches you a lot of patience, but the rewards are wonderful.

Won't last. The wood will be ruined - even if you are in LA. The sun is not kind to wood and any precipitation (like the kind we get about every night here) will make quick work of it.
Juliabren - yes, exterior furniture is made from wood. But not from that kind of wood.

I love Marta. She was able to create a business empire out of hard work and good taste. She's my hero and she's darned funny.

Feather here. I've used fans for years. Sometimes use ear plugs.
But a few months ago, I got so sick I had to sleep propped up on an extra pillow and it made a HUGE difference.
Now I sleep with a pillow underneath my tempurpedic one, and then wiggle my way under very tightly tucked sheets so I don't flop around. Laying propped up and on my back has made sleep so much easier.

There is a Middle Eastern saying: If the guest stays for 3 days, that is a prize. If he stays more days, it becomes charity.
Go with the air bed. Why have a guest room set up year long? And it lets your guests know that you love them, in short term doses.

Used dryer sheets make the best dusters I have ever used. I use them to clean dust off all our furniture as well as the baseboards and sometimes the floor. I always get a second use out of them now.

We love our Keurig. I don't drink more than 2 cups of coffee all day, any day. The speed and convenience of the K-cups can't be beat for people like me. I also drink their apple cider and teas. LOVE IT.
We recycle everything possible so I am not guilt stricken by throwing these away.
