i bought a vintage aluminum tree from ebay. it's at least 50 years old and the ornaments that came with it as well. i think my tree, if it ever has to be thrown out, can be recycled and i think the carbon footprint of a used vintage tree is negligible. i moved to houston 8 months ago from dallas. let's just say that pollution and the lack of recycling is a huge problem here. it's sad because houston has so much green spaces, et cetera but the pollution is so bad that my outdoor plants are covered with soot. (granted, i live in an apartment complex next to a freeway) this doesn't surprise me the least.
