I painted my Craftsman living room a medium purple that actually became a neutral next to all of my grey furniture and dark wood molding/floors. Everyone who sees it loves it. This is exactly what I thought when my mother offered one to me during my last visit. She lives by herself and hardly ever has company. It made me sad that she spent some of her limited income on something that was, for her, so wasteful. I'll never get rid of my cloth towels, even if it means a couple of extra items in my laundry. In this house, if it's broken, it gets tossed. This teaches them to take better care of their toys and to put them away so that the dog cannot eat them (as if...). That being said, the theatrics involved in actually disposing of said toy, complete with tears, gets old. This is a brilliant idea. If this is creepy, I don't want to be "normal".
