Swooning over all of your beautiful vintage Pyrex! I have 3 of a 4 bowl nested set of my great-grandmothers mixing bowls and they always make me happy when I use them. What a wonderful collection. Kirsten's Bluebird of Happiness House House Tour |

What about a fan that is aimed at the door opening? Kind of like the air curtain mentioned by JAMES COBALT, but a cute little oscillator or some such. It would not only keep bugs from flying in, but keep the air moving around, too. You could also try setting out bowls or jars of distilled white vinegar with a drop or two of dishwasing soap (ie, dawn) to attract the gnats and noseeums that do get in. The vinegar also helps with household odors :) Keeping Bugs Out with Windows Open? Good Questions |

I agree on the "kitchen drawer" comments. Maybe this drawer is from a small boutique type eatery, or a home caterer. That does seem like a lot of duplicates. But the clear organization and symmetry make my heart sing! EMMI, we have lots of scissors for multiple uses, too, but we don't store them all together. They generally live near where they get used. Perfect timing! We are expecting our first in the next few weeks, and have just had our showers. I will be in full on sorting mode this week just to get in the door of the nursery! We added a shoe organizer to the hall coat closet and it has made such a difference, we're for sure adding one to the nursery. 10 Reader Tips for Nursery Organization Nesting a Nursery |

Plan out plenty of meals! Especially if you will stil be living in your house with a demo-ed kitchen. We are almost finished with ours, and the fridge has been living in the dining room with the stove. There are only so many frozen/microwaveable dinner meals we can stand, and found a second hand propane camp stove for $10 to cook a real meal every few nights. We've eaten out a few times, too. Even that is getting old! My advice has nothing to do with the reno, but a lot to do with logistics. What Is Your Best Kitchen Renovation & Planning Advice? |

We're doing our nursery in Muppets, and are also vexed by the lack of Muppet themed items. So, we're using what I already have (Kermit has always had my heart), a few things we have found, and bright, Muppet-y colors otherwise. Love the pinata! Might be a good shower idea! Ooh, I was just wondering about orange baby rooms. We are expecting and the nursery was already orange in anticipation of our Muppets theme. Love how our stained wood crib looks with "Pumpkin Bread". Positively Juicy! 10 Instances of Orange |

Perfect timing on this post! We are about to rip up 3 rooms + 1 hall of carpet and my conscience was already heavy about my landfill contribution. Thanks so much! Recycling Carpet |

I second fulinlin. Something like this would be excellent in disaster areas. And it would be easy and efficient to get them there quickly in 40' shipping containers. Casulo's Furnished Room in a Box |

Last summer I lost 1/3 of a huge, ugly hackberry tree to carpenter ants. Luckily, the only damage was to my fence and gouges in the yard :(. Last Friday, another 1/3 came down. I was hesitant about taking it down because of all the wildlife I see using the tree but it has become dangerous. If the rest falls before my tree guy gets to it late this week, it will take out a power pole, pecan tree, and possibly my neighbor's house. I hate to lose the shade and take away from the native wildlife, but I'd hate to replace my neighbor's house more. I feel better knowing that my community uses yard trimmings and downed trees for steam power instead of just rotting in the dump, too. When Not to Feel Guilty About Cutting Down a Tree |

While deployed in the Middle East, I found 3 rugs that I loved. I kept them rolled up in my sleeping area until I had to figure out a way to get them home. Rolled and taped tightly, then wrapped several times in brown shipping paper. At the time, I only had red packing tape to use, so they looked like giant cigars lit at both ends. The post office called my mom when they arrived and advised she bring a truck to pick them up as they were long and awkward. I still have them, and I still love them. Totally worth the trouble and expense. What's Your Biggest Souvenir + How Did You Get It Home? |

I have had luck using cornmeal on mounds in the yard. I usually just sprinkle enough to cover the mound and just around the edges. It is usually "vacant" in a couple days, providing there hasn't been any rain. 8 All-Natural Ant Killing Methods Put To The Test DIY Life |

More than half of my furniture is "heirloom", and none is very fancy. However, I love it all the more as reminders of my dear family. My favorite piece is a china cabinet that my great-great-grandfather made as a wedding gift to his new bride. It is very simple, but very classic. Sentimental Fool: When Furniture Has Meaning |
