Everything is starting to look very Scandinavian/German, cluttery and un-uniform. The 70s are back!

Ha. These little extras are all fine until they break down. Fight under-arm flab and do it yourself.

Yes, first thought -- stubbed toes in the middle of the night from that bed base.

I go along with others, as my first thoughts are mostly white accents, picture frames etc, with blue and brown/earth tones to set off the rest. Area lighting will help warm the place up. Reed (sisal as mentioned) matting to cover all that horrible shiny floor and then rugs on top should also make the space more welcoming and warmer. Wondering if you could also get away with the right orange, sparsely used, as an accent colour, and the kind of geometric patterns in that delicious blue rug hanging the background of the makers talk post above. House plant, particularly softly spiky palms, would help soften the slightly institutional look of the walls. Interesting textures in accessories would also help bring the eye away from the bones. Good luck.

That would be my first worry too. Although it's a good idea, I'd rather not chance the vagaries of the postal system, and would prefer to scan it myself.

Love the new look. Glad you ditched the Barbara Cartland décor, the place looks gorgeous.

Before & After: A Dramatic Small Space Makeover... and What Makes it Work Lonny

Great kitchen, but I feel like there's too much empty space between that and the back of the couch, and it needs something there like a big bench table - would be perfect for entertaining guests, even though I am sure the table at the side of the room has a wonderful view while eating.

Stylish, but brings to mind the words 'Satan's powder-room' for me.

Your home has a relaxing, welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere, and I love the aesthetic of treasuring the past while incorporating it into everyday life. The kitchen was nice, but kind of a shock, I did not expect it to look that modern :) but I did love the island. Nicely done, amazing floors, and what a handsome loveable hound.

I'll agree with others, did the batteries die in the camera, as the tour seems strangely truncated. Loved the colours chosen, made the space very relaxing, the dog is adorable, and really liked the black and white dresser in the bedroom, cleverly done. My main gripe is the couch next to the door - I cannot tell from the photos, so space may be at a minimum, but it would seem much nicer without that almost in the doorway, and a hall table of something else that didn't feel like you had to run the gauntlet between the furniture to get into the living room.

Love the colour palette and the painting, plus the eclectic blend of furniture definitely works. At first I wondered why the floor stripes went up and across the base of the stove plate, but now I'm guessing it's clear and the stripes are under it. Gorgeous all round.

Hi again, strange request: is there any chance of you posting the names of some of the plants, especially the ones in your bedroom, and the one that looks like a lot of feather dusters in a tall stack in the living room? If not, no problem either. Thanks

Sorry, but I just have to add to the chorus. I did not even get to the house tour photos, I couldn't get past the mannered introductory paragraph, which read like a lifestyle advertisement. Very impersonal and trying too hard to be 'perfect'.

Fantastic renovation. I like your style, and especially the wood with the white walls and tiles, and the black windows that bring in so much light. Enjoy all your hard work, it looks great, and so much more spacious.
