This is a great renovation, well done. I love that you kept the original cabinets, I have a soft spot for them (and have the same ones).

I bought some coconut oil a few weeks ago and am totally loving it as a moisturizer. I prefer to put it on right out of the shower.

Warning about the homemade deodorant above tho, it was too harsh for me. I tried it for two weeks until my skin starting peeling off. Ouch!

I have that radio, not the red cross version, and love it. Although we haven't had a power outage since I bought it, it's still come in handy for using while working or hanging outside, when I want tunes in my tiny bathroom or the basement, etc. Charging via cranking is a bit cumbersome in that it takes a lot of cranking, but the solar charging is awesome!

Wow - I love your home, it's so bright and cheerful! I also love that it's uncluttered, but not cold. One of my favorite AT house tours ever!

Eek - Sorry for the multiple comments and non-working links. FF didn't seem to be posting my comment. Here's what I meant:

I have a stairway landing strip in my little house and hooks are my best friend! We also have plaster walls, and hung the hooks from an MDF-board attached to the wall and haven't had any problems, even when I hang quite heavy books from them. You can also use bags hanging from the hooks to store gloves and other cold-weather accessories. See pics here

Wow, the other commenters have way more stamina than me! When the house gets below 65 and stays there is when I turn on the heat. I turned it on for two days last weekend, but it's been off since thanks to our indian summer.

I received some glass Pyrex containers for Christmas, but we were still using plastic containers more until I made a little switch. I can't believe it took me so long to do it, but by putting the plastic containers on a high, inconvenient cupboard shelf, and moving the pyrex containers to our easiest-to-grab spots, we're now using glass all the time instead of plastic.

A dehumidifier is a necessary evil for me too. I have one going in the basement almost all the time. I get the sweaty window issue in the winter, but never the summer.

740sq ft ranch for 2 people and 3 cats, but that doesn't include a large basement (half of which is finished) and an attic. Storage space is not an issue.

I used to feel more cramped until starting a massive declutter. Now that I've gotten rid of the crap I don't use (well most of it) it feels like plenty of room.

Miami's Elaine - The reason most northerners don't count unfinished attics, basements, etc. in total square footage is probably the same reason I dont. These spaces aren't counted on the official property report for sale and tax purposes unless they're finished and certain guidelines are met.

Geez...harsh crowd.

I'd never want the before lamp, but the after? Yes please! I want to find a pair of cheap lamps to give the spray paint treatment to, but no luck so far.

Catmint is a big hit at our house. I'm always jealous of the huge catmint plants my mom has, mine barely grow before the cats roll and roll on them and rip leaves off. But, whatever, it makes the little buggers happy...
