Yes to the falafel and the pizza. We only have meat for dinner twice a week but I agree with Buttons and JMorri26, some recipes just aren't the same when you sub in tofu. I love tofu but I hate it when it tries to be meat.

Thank you, TheModernMan. I like the guy that assumed everyone has a basement. It is Apartment Therapy after all, not House-with-a-full-basement Therapy. I actually didn't get a cat although I missed having pets until I moved into an apartment with a laundry room.

LOL @Slopegirl Get ready for this I spell "drafty" draughty and I'm from TEXAS.

I'm pregnant now and I think I'll use this as inspiration. It would look great with yellow or a nice saturated blue too I think.

I agree with Karen. I think RR90027 is a little over sensitive or perhaps fighting her own urge to engender. My first thought when I saw this was, "My son would LOVE this." It's blue for crying out loud. The only thing "girly" is that one heart shape on the highchair. I would never have looked at that set and said that's for girls only.

Brass reminds me of the 80's too. I have this awkward 3 foot tall brass floor lamp that was an eye sore but after painting it it became a nice structural element.

I think for historical neighborhoods, it's important to maintain the aesthetic. With newer neighborhoods it should be up to the home owner. I'm not a fan of HOAs that dictate what you can grow in your yard, how long your grass has to be, that you have to have grass, etc.

I used to live in a historic neighborhood in a resort town and I think they took things a little far. I got a ticket for being parked in front of my own house overnight.

I love this place, but it should be called housetherapy.com. I've never lived in an apartment where you were allowed to remodel anything. I'm not even allowed to paint over the crappy flat beige that's on my walls. Someday, someday...

@delilah2 You are so right on. I was horrified by the food choices in there! My son gets junk food once in a while but if we had a cabinet full of chips and candy he'd turn into a little extra hyper tornado. His all access snack cupboard is the fruit bin, veggie bin, and the cheese bin in the fridge.

That coffee maker is very pretty. I just have an electric kettle and a French press like so many other posters. I have little strainer spoons for the rare times when I have loose tea. Usually it's just Red Rose.

I have Oneida Colorburst dinnerware in Berry blue and Kiwi. It looks very much like the Crate & Barrel dishes but they've chipped like crazy. I think I'll be checking out Crate & Barrel. I love them so much they look so clean and minimal in the cupboard but so bright and fun on the table.

I love it. I have no idea what to put in my bathroom so everything hides under the sink. I keep my jewelery in those little plastic boxes made for fishing tackle. They keep every piece apart from the next and I just stack them in a train case.

What does this space function as? It's not a desk, it's not a library, the lamp illuminating the old boots make me think entryway, but then it doesn't seem to be that either. What's the extra lumber for?

The pictures are very pretty but there's no way I'd paint rooms like that again. When we were younger we painted our living room this really intense turquoise. I felt like I was living in a clown's pocket.

What about high quality silk flowers for everyday? Are they always tacky? I'm pinching every penny but I love the way flowers look.

@april We've had neighbors like that when we lived in family housing while I finished my degree. I have a toddler and he was playing in our apt and she actually called campus police to report a child playing loudly! We then had her coming up to our apt numerous times complaining about us walking around in our apt after 7pm. We aren't even heavy walkers. She complained when my son fell out of bed. I just chalked it up to the fact that she's probably never lived in an apt building before. We've lived on the second floor for a long time. We didn't get complaints from previous neighbors and we don't get complaints from our current downstairs neighbor even though my son is bigger and louder now.

I like the over the toilet one. My in-laws have two deer heads in their family room. They decorate them for Christmas too with lights in the antlers. My FIL hunts for food and ate the rest of the deer so not every trophy is killed just "for sport".

A side point: How many animals died and lost their homes so soy bean fields could be planted? Just because someone doesn't eat meat doesn't mean they aren't contributing to the desiccation of the earth.
