I move long distances every few years. I rent a Penske truck online and check weekly for price drops, then re-lock in the discount, along with the 10% web discount and 12% AAA discount. Then, the day before, I call the local Penske where I'm picking up the truck and negotiate another discount. I usually get them to throw in the cost of a car carrier, too. I use Angie's List to hire guys on each end to load the truck, about $200-$250 on each end. The truck I rented in February was 26 feet long and cost me just $600 to rent, and it took 2.5 hours on each end to load and unload. Each box was marked by room and a number, which was then noted on my list. I used towels, not clothes, as packing material. I also packed things inside my shoes, which were then packed into the large wardrobe boxes, under the hanging clothes.

I love the yellow and white cotton/dhurrie rug in the living area. Where did you find that? I've been looking for that rug for weeks now, but cannot find it online. Thanks.
