We also moved to Seattle from NYC (Brooklyn - Williamsburg!) and I totally get the whole "Seattle Freeze" thing - but we joined the fabulous FlyWheel spinning studio and we have met lots of people casually there - and some of those become friends to do things with - but some do not. It is definitely a hard city to crack! But hang in there - maybe we'll meet by accident! And then - wouldn't THAT be an amazing story... :) 10 Tried & True Tips: How to Make New Friends in a New City |

I love this redo - really beautiful and organic-y. I also really like the fabric window treatment, and think I must send this to my sister-in-law in Williamsburg. Thank you for sharing! Oh to have such a talented and determined sister! Before & After: Samna Transforms a Studio in 5 Days |

If the snoring is only an annoyance, and not a serious issue, like Sleep Apnea - the non-snoring partner can also be hypnotized to hear the snoring as a relaxing white noise sound. My husband had sleep Apnea, went on CPAP - did a full sleep study in Manhattan, and then he lost about 25lbs. and now he sleeps almost entirely silently. He used to wake up over 300 times a night - now he wakes up 3 - and I wake up 11 times! The CPAP sure helped him not only to sleep - but to feel better overall because his body was starving for rest. He has always used the Neti Pot, as some recommend - but it wasn't enough in the face of Sleep Apnea. Now he is free of the CPAP and no more Apnea, the weight loss did it. Plus it's a good motivator to keep the weight off, as he hated wearing the CPAP. (PS - we used the Fitbit tracker for pedometer and to monitor times we wake up at night. Here is some info - http://www.healthyobsessions.net/2010/03/putting-the-fitbit-to-bed-sleep-tracking/). Sleep Tight and don't let the bedbugs bite....(oh, too scary and true these days!) We did a similar cruise in 2008. It was absolutely fantastic - we ended up on a boat with 4 Dutch people, my husband and I and our crew. The company we booked it through was called Flaka Cruising out of the Netherlands, and cost was 500 Euros per person for the week - all food and accommodation included. It was magical and wonderful. Only so many years later! But - any idea where you might have gotten that nice slim, tall table over the toilet tank? I have an entire wall of mirrors with a chrome shelf - so all those "space saver" things are out of the question - but a nice tall, skinny table would work great. Love your style, perhaps I will quit fretting my 500 sq. feet! ![]() Apartment #13: Patricks Cosmo-Urban Studio Rental

I moved from Tokyo, in the Nakameguro section last year after spending 3 years there. It was also not in a Western area. We lived in about 1,000 square feet and it cost $4,500 a month - not including any utilities or services of any kind. To me, Shibuya is still very much in the center of Tokyo. If you are served by any of the metro lines, then that is central Tokyo. This is a lovely building - I love the outdoor space. We had two balconies but no one is allowed to really use them -and you certainly could not grill on them, as the smell of smoke easily wafts into other people's living space. There are some great design places in Tokyo - Muji, Okay, etc., etc. But it is all expensive! Jon & Liezel's Concrete Block House Tour |
