Can I still comment on this old thread? I'm looking for a way to stop my overflow drain and don't feel any guilt about water usage (read on for justification). My overflow drain is square, so the round suction thingy doesn't work. Looks like plastic wrap is my only option. The reason I don't feel guilt for wanting a deep water bath is because it's healthy and natural for people to bathe in deep, hot water. The Japanese have been doing it for ages and have designed soaking tubs that work more efficiently than ours do. Our bad tub design is the problem, NOT the desire to take deep, hot baths. Their tubs are deeper but not as long (so you can't stretch your legs out), the water easily covers the bather up to the neck and beyond, and the water takes longer to cool down because the surface area is less. They hold less water than our western tubs, but do the job better. Also, the Japanese take a quick shower BEFORE soaking in the tub so that multiple family members can use the same bath water. So, until the U.S. gets an environmental designer on the case to reform bathroom design all over the country, I'm going to use plastic wrap to cover my overflow drain. A deep, hot, salt bath at least once a week is essential to detoxing for good health. The Scandinavians understand this and have their saunas -- many households have their own. The Japanese understand this and have their revered tradition of deep, hot baths. Hell, even the ancient Romans had their bath houses, and the Arab countries their hammams! I agree with ellabee, I'm encouraged by people who are greener than me. If I can't or won't do something that's eco-friendly, then I can't or won't do it, but that doesn't mean I resent those who can and will. Weekend Meditation: Getting Off The Soapbox |

I eat a low-carb veggie diet. For breakfast I have a soft-boiled egg and fruit, or kefir and fruit. I get kefir from Redhill Farms. They treat their goats really well. Plus, kefir is lighter than yogurt, easy to digest. I also like to put walnuts in the kefir with vanilla extract and cinnamon. You can sweeten it with honey or stevia. On the weekend I have eggs and one red potato. There's some starch there w/ the potato, but not much, def. not like eating a russet potato. Sometimes I'll saute spinach and garlic for breakfast with a boiled egg. Is Vegetarianism Incompatible With a Low-Carb Diet? Good Questions |

"Touch wood" is a phrase that means the same thing as "knock on wood." Unless you have a cheeky monkey kind of mind. Green Style: Xylophone of the Forest |

I wasn't condoning disposable chop sticks. I carry reusable bamboo utensils (including chop sticks) with me at all times and find myself using them at least four times a week when I'm out of the house. I think my point was lost somehow. Green Style: Xylophone of the Forest |

A lot more wood is wasted on disposable chopsticks. It's not like they're going to mass produce this xylophone! I think it's fine. Imagine all the wood used over the centuries to make violins. It is a great idea and well done. Green Style: Xylophone of the Forest |

I like this place, not overdone, a few surprises. It's inspiring to see how people make the most of what they have. Kelsey and Karl's Oceanic Apartment by the Lake Green Tour |

For people who need something besides good "sleep hygiene" to get a good night's sleep, try L-Tryptophan supplements (Source Naturals is a good brand). Also, magnesium taken right before bed can help tremendously (preferably powdered, it's easier to absorb - Natural Calm is a good brand). Most people are deficient in mag, anyway. It's a natural muscle relaxant. You can also get magnesium oil, just rub it into your skin before sleeping (google Ancient Minerals mag oil). How To Get a Really Good Night's Sleep 10 Sleep Tips |

I love all of the ethnic and pop art (movie poster) in this home, but they have some very strong juju that I would find difficult to live with. Tribal artifacts and religious icons have powerful energy, oftentimes directed towards specific goals. A piece here and there is usually well-absorbed in a modern home, but this place is off the hook. It would be divine to wander around admiring everything, but nice to leave. This house is joyous. All of the warm wood on the floor and the walls helps anchor the pop culture stuff. Love the diagonally-laid wood in the kitchen. The bedroom is unique and serene, quite a surprise after the kid's room! Anna & Luby's Home Meets Showroom House Tour |

The original tiles are the highlight of this house for me. That's my dream kitchen -- the tiles on the walls, counters, and floors. Much more fun and cozy than the modern stainless steel & granite numbers (I have one of those). The beams in the living room are awesome, too. Good bones, good bones. Ooh la la. I could never be this grown up and classy in a million years, not even with the dough to back it up. I have to agree with wally3 and say that, "This house is amazeballs." Kathleen & Maurizio's Imported Italian Home House Tour |

Where are the bathrooms? Did I see a *glimpse* of a kitchen? I was going to ask about the bedrooms but then realized we saw a sliver of a bedroom somewhere in one of those photos. I agree, too many vignettes here. I was really looking forward to this tour, too. I like to see perspectives from other countries. That said, I like the use of saturated colors in this home, especially the deep blues and reds. Interesting that they left the walls white. The colors pop against the white and you can really go crazy with the color combinations with such a neutral wall color, I guess. I like a lot of what I saw here, but I didn't get the sense of the size of the house (which is significant based on the square footage) or the variety of rooms, etc. Ingrid & Sjaak's Colorful Dutch Abode House Tour |

For readers who aren't familiar with Tokyo apartments, this one is a LOT nicer than typical ones. Azabu Juban is an upscale neighborhood. 550 sq. ft. is quite roomy compared to many apartments in Tokyo. James & Briony's Tokyo Home House Tour |

Wow, these are great. Would look good in a bedroom. I used to have a bed filllllled with stuffed animals as a kid. My mom didn't get rid of them (they were stored in a hefty bag in her garage) 'til I was in my 30s. If I can appreciate these rugs, anyone can! I don't think they're creepy at all! This is magnificent. I don't usually like tons of antiques in a home, but they look natural here. Plus, the ones he chose are stunning. He even managed to pull off the huge winged statue in the living room! This definitely looks like a home, even with all of the oversized architectural refugees. So rich and imaginative. One of my favorites, can't believe it's only 580 sq. ft. I like the use of subtle color, mustards, browns, grays, and how the green house plants really shine that way. Love the simple green rug in the bathroom. Well-edited, indeed. Liz's Well-Edited Half of a Durham Duplex House Tour |
