yes, i have had my eyes on a Bernina machine for ages but if this is supposed to be a reasonably priced, beginner's sewing machine list, Bernina doesn't belong. They're very expensive machines.

Yes, yes, you guys need to have a blog documenting your DIY adventures!!
The laminate flooring was the right choice for the space - it looks gorgeous and fits in with the aesthetic of the place.
8 people at that (gorgeous, amazing, handmade) dining table looks like it would be a very "cozy" dinner party!!

Those shelves do look like they're crowding that lovely window quite a bit, and seem not so well designed. My only concern would be in regards to what condition you'd find the hardwood floor underneath the built-ins if you were to tear them out.
Best case scenario: the floor is intact and lovely and you tear those babies out for a much more open dining room.
Worst case: Perhaps you could lower the middle shelf to bench-height, paint it, add pillows and make yourself a cozy window nook? Solves the window crowding situation and adds seating to your home? Also: doors, definitely doors.

Okay, the sugru stuff is really cool BUT.... as a person who sews a lot i can think of a free way to do the tea-towel thing - just sew the magnet into a little corner of your towel! Much more simple, no? Actually, it sounds like a good idea. I might go try it!

Still, they're obviously very creative thinkers. Nice post!

Really awesome. I had already pinned your jewelry storage ideas for future use, now I love seeing it all put together!!
May I ask the dimensions of the closet? ... Just to see if this is at all possible in my little walk-in.
Also, does the closet have two doors?? What was the purpose of the picture of the doors? It's super cute but it's confusing me :-/
Thanks!

Seriously, probably one of the best AT tours in a loooong time. So. Amazing.
Love how you have before pictures of the "blank canvas" so to speak. What was with that crazy car mural!??
Everything in this house is impeccable. I echo other commenters: Why can't I have a place like this?!!

Awesome!!

I love how the logs are stacked in the first picture, and I can imagine a whole wall of those being constructed as a partition in a beautiful backyard space. Sigh.... Makes me wish I had all that land to work with and not a condo in the city!

I like how the fitted sheet in the skip hop set is made to give the look o a bumper without actually being a bumper. Like a "faux" bumper. Very cute!!!

This home is absolutely beautiful and very charming. Looks like people actually live in it - AND it's well-designed.
I would LOVE to see an exterior shot of this house. I'm interested in the Craftsman style but i find they all look so different from the outside, it's hard to discern one from another. Perhaps a post on the history and key features of Craftsman style houses is in order, AT?
Many thanks!

LOL this picture deserves to go on the "Catalog Living" blog - What's with the birds' nest of sharp, uncomfortable looking twigs on the seat of the chair? Would love to see what witty imaginary conversation Elaine and Gary would have with this scenario!!

Wow... did Nicole get paid or perked for this ripoff of her design? I guess, the furniture in Nicole's room did all come from the Land of Nod, but does that give them the right to use her design and layout? I love Making it Lovely - she has excellent taste - and I can see how the Land of Nod would be very happy to see their products in use in her home.... hmm..

I just LOVE this kitchen. Perfect blend of contemporary and Mid-century styles. Contemporary yet so warm and inviting. I think every kitchen should have a place for storing books! Such an overlooked thing yet I have SO many cookbooks and nowhere to store them.

Lorint, even if it's not sunny, you can still expose the sun print paper. There's plenty of UV on a cloudy day to make an image. You might just have to let it sit for a while longer for cloudy days. The biggest factor for me is the wind!! It always wants to blow away my graceful leaves!
Love this post - especially the ceramics!

Craziness..... What's more insane is the fact that, although we find it disgusting that people are reselling stuff on Ebay for a massive price hike, there are STILL people willing to pay it, and so it will of course happen!
How brand-name crazy are we? I did go to Target today during my lunch break (I work in a suburb of Chicago - I wanted to check out what all the fuss was about) and EVERYTHING was gone from the shelves. Everything. I was in total shock. As I walked around the store, I saw a woman down the aisle shove the last two of the larger, black and white zig-zag bags into her cart without even thinking about it. Did she really need two? I have to wonder: Do we really actually LIKE or want these items? Or are we completely brainwashed by our brand-name and design recognition? Something to ponder.
