They sell these (the cookies not the cutters) at grocery stores, I just noticed this year! I may give in and buy a batch. I don't understand why they're called "metallic" when they're described as ABS plastic?

Aw man I feel left out, it looks so gross to me! The combination doesn't appeal. I'll use the technique for a different flavor combo though so thanks!

PS I never massage it, and I think kale is superior to spinach in certain applications because it never ever wilts or becomes slimy. Sometimes I'm very much not in the mood for slimy!

The turning point for me and my buddy kale was perogies. Potato and onion perogies sauteed in oil and butter with well-cooked onions, served with sour cream. I throw the kale in at the end and let it char a little on the high heat. Delicious.

That and sauteed with chicken/turkey meatballs made with LOTS of carrot and garlic, served with spaghetti and parm. Its like italian wedding soup without the soup and super hardy and filling. I love that kale doesn't overcook for me, it just becomes crispy and crunchy.

Kale chips with vinegar and sea salt are really my third and final use, beyond these I haven't found another use for it but I love it when it fits!

Find a thin crust pizza dough you like (I like The Kitchn's best actually - I add rosemary and a little olive oil though). Once you get into the habit of making that once a week, which takes an absurdly small amount of time, you'll think to use and tweak the recipe for all sorts of things! I use it to make sandwich pockets for my husband's work lunches (leftover thanksgiving sandwich, curried chicken and paneer, etc). Calzones too yummmmm. Its such an easy setup to clean just the bowl and an attachment, I use it constantly. Fresh pasta attachment seconded!!!

Just wanted to throw in that stews and chilis are a good idea, but maybe be kind and include a list of ingredients. A good friend of mine gave me a delicious pot of turkey stew, but it threw my numbers way off. I asked for the recipe partly to get a better idea of why it spiked my sugar - turns out she used a LOT of flour for thickening, which I didn't consider. Duh, a roux, should have known, though I never would have estimated as high a number as what she used. Not sure if experienced diabetics wouldn't need this, but as a newbie - I'd love it.

Also Dreamfields pasta is expensive but great for diabetics, if you're making a gift basket you could include some!

I'm new at this, gestational diabetes here. Looking forward to suggestions, and I'll throw in that I've found a small square of Trader Joe's dark chocolate (the good, hard, rich almost bitter stuff by the register - forget the percentage) lowers my blood sugar and satisfies the sweets craving. Woe is the pregnant woman who can't dig into Ben and Jerry's...

Something with dark chocolate and high protein content (nuts, etc) will probably be a good treat.

Any reason why you can't just add a spoonful of potato starch to the potatoes instead? Would the results be different? Many jewish households have it on hand anyway for Passover recipes, and the box lasts for years as it pretty much only gets used at Passover.

I rarely eat red meat so when I do, I have no issue spending for a good steak. Eating heart sounds sad to me....emotional eating, I suppose. I'd be pissed if someone served me anything out of the ordinary and didn't tell me/told me after (like a previous poster suggested). That's just bad manners.

All I know is those lemon shaped squeezy bottles smell and taste like diapers to me. NO I don't eat diapers, but it just has that weird chemically essence that reminds me of clean disposable diapers and clean garbage bags.

There was no reason for that to be anti-food-costume. A simple "funny food costumes" post would have sufficed. Some of those were funny, and dignity and costumes are never the best of friends anyway.

I hate it. It looks like a Looney Toons accident. Leaving the cabinets white wouldn't have taken away anything in my opinion, and doing this adds nothing but a visual disturbance, again in my opinion, as others may love it.

I love Ashley's ideas, and its nice to see her credited since the Today Show put this on without that courtesy! Here's the specific blog post on her site: http://ashleyannphotography.com/blog/2010/12/30/i-was-on-the-today-show-kind-of/

I made this DIY and like that the format was good for scrapbooking, I took a few of the memorable days of the year and included them in a baby book and a scrap book.

Cilantro, lime, vinegar and peppers! Really I'd just try omitting the cumin from your favorites and see how they are, I think there are a lot of strong flavors in Mexican cooking that can pick up the slack. I know I've made enchiladas and barbacoa (mmm chipotle) without cumin and it was still delicious! My family chicken enchiladas have no cumin, just green chiles and white pepper and they're delicious.

Call me crazy, but I will never be spending that kind of money on something that frivolous. Maybe others don't see it as frivolous, but I sure as hell do. $35 cutting board oil, too funny, $225 for a cutting board you guys are adorable.
