Haters gonna hate! You also need to realize that they make a living doing DIY stuff. The fact that they've furnished their house with a few big Ikea pieces just means they are on a budget and they need quality, durable furniture (like the millions of other Americans/people worldwide who shop at Ikea). These personal home design choices are part of the reason they have thousands of readers. Just because something is "vintage" doesn't mean it isn't mass market, likely it was a mass market piece 40 years ago. They do purchase furniture at yard sales and off Craigslist, but I guess you would just call that "used". But my Eames chair is "vintage" and my BMW is "pre-owned". La-dee-da. I can look at eye candy home tours filled with vintage MCM furniture all day long, that doesn't make those places any more original than an Ikea apartment, depending on how it is styled. And if I want a style that I can duplicate, because maybe I'm one of those people who isn't rich/cool/lucky enough to splurge on or luck out on a vintage Danish sideboard, well I might just have to go to Ikea or google how to build a piece of furniture myself. bazinga.

Except for some families it would be nothing but a couple iPhones, since smartphones have replaced having separate music players and cameras. is that an iPod mini? that model was my first iPod, but the battery quit holding a charge years ago. i loved that thing. I suppose a re-furbished one could still work.

i laughed a little at the garden layouts at the top. it might as well be type A, type B personalities. my heart flutters at the thought of an English garden. i'm working to make my yard more like a cottage garden. all those small, evenly spaced plants just leave room for weeds to occupy the space, and i don't want to spend hours every day weeding. i'd rather have full, lush flowers filling in all that space.

I'd say the funky 3 color tile backsplash laid out in diagonals is unique too.

my grandmother actually does have a bedspread very similar to this one. i've always liked it.

Definitely need something to help me photograph interiors so they don't look dark and fuzzy, overly backlit from sunny windows, and turning crazy colors from various light bulbs.

search for "swiffer cover" on etsy and you can find lots of knitted swiffer covers that you can throw in the washing machine. i haven't tried it myself, so i don't know how it does on hair, but it would solve the trash problem as it is re-useable.

@ hollystuff - i immediately thought the exact same thing. very Narnia, but in a creepy way.
