Isn't it impolite to leave your phone on the table? Not just because you might check it. It's not appropriate to leave your keys or wallet or purse there either.

OK, I think I'm feeling cranky this morning, but if you look at your keyboard while you type, then you are not a "pretty good typist."

Food is great. Cleaning help is great. Coming over to hold the baby (the fun part) while the mom tidies up, does laundry, cooks (the not fun part) is NOT nice. This was the kind of "help" my family provided, and it was awful.

I know. I know. It's totally true. I just love the feeling of drinking from a glass bottle (more than the improved aroma from a beer mug/glass). I'm used to the judging glances.

I have the bowl-lift, but grew up using my mom's tilt head. I wish these things broke so I could ditch my bowl-lift and buy a tilt head, which in my opinion, is superior. It's easier to use - easier to add ingredients, easier to scrape the bowl. It's also prettier from a design perspective.

The bowl lift has a bigger motor and a bigger bowl, but neither of those things make up for how awkward it is to use.

I like this idea, but why that tape deck? I have a Trivoli radio that I plug my Ipod into and then I hide the Ipod behind the radio. It's not that apple makes ugly products, it's just that they look wierd in a living room. Hide away, but at least choose something with some style.

One way to make it "disappear" a little more might be to clear everything off the counters, over the cabinets, and on the fridge. Having lived in a studio, I know how hard that can be (where else to put it?), but you may be reacting the clutter as much as the fact that it's a ktichen. If you can manage it - I'd get decant your dishsoap and handsoap into plain glass bottles, neatly fold a single neutral towl on the handle of the oven, keep the clock and frying pans on the wall, and then get rid of literally every other visable thing.

The Perfex pepper mill is "almost" perfect because it's actually a pretty crummy peppermill. I have one, and adore it - it's beautiful. It's just not very good at actually grinding pepper.

Yup. I regularly buy 2 T. of pinenuts or 1/4 cup of dried cherries for a salad. If I were to buy a pound of pinenuts I'd snack on them, and I am not rich enough to be eating pinenuts for a snack.

I'm not usually easily offended, but a seque from the body of a loved one to an old building as if they similar constructs seems in particularly bad taste.

For the record, confit is a very different product than soup, and if prepared correctly, would be relatively shelf stable.

Elmer's glue is not "sniffable". It doesn't have the chemical properties that would make it psychotropic. That is, sniff away - no harm will befall the kiddies.

I find this equation works well.

Salad = green + fruit + cheese + nut

My favorites:
- Spinach with pear, gorgonzola, and toasted walnuts
- mesclun with green apple, brie and candied pecans
- Arugula with grapefruit sections, pecorino, and pinenuts
