I LOVE mid-century modern because it has a definitive sense of style without compromising comfort.

It sounds like most people on this blog are pretty well off because most stated they would buy LED's for their home - despite the cost. That's HUGE investment for most of us that have regular jobs and mortgages to pay. Just in my living room I would need almost 12 bulbs, 10 in my kitchen - 22 bulbs total in just 2 rooms of my house X $25 a piece (on average because I've seen some more expensive and some cheaper also) = almost $600!!! I can't afford to spend $600 on two rooms just for lightbulbs.
I DEFINITELY agree that the long-term savings are worth it and the environmental impact is considerably less, but I still have to consider the fact that buying even just a few at a time is a large investment.
Not to mention the fact that the LED's I've seen are not as "warm" as incadescents or even soft-white CFL's. They come close, but still have a different glow to them that i'm not 100% convinced with - especially considering I'm paying $25 a bulb.
Once LED's are perfected, lower priced and easier to find in stores, then I'll consider changing out all the CFL's in my home for LED's.

Just my 2 cents.

I really like the look of the painted cabinets, I'm just not so sure the concrete countertops go with the traditional look of the kitchen. Usually, I don't see concrete with beadboarding :-/

There is so much more visual interest in the after. The before is just a little bland and boring - safe.
Good job!

I think the danger in painting the celing the same color as the walls is the closet feeling. It might bring the ceiling lower, meaning give the feeling of a closet, closed in and smaller. The reason most rooms have white ceilings is that they make the room look taller and give a feeling of height.
Although I personally would never paint a ceiling the same color as the walls, I have seen it done with spectacular results - like some of the rooms at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California :-)

Good Luck!

I would recommend finding a gel foam topper for your mattress. Again, they're not cheap, but I'm sure that they'll cost you a lot less than a new mattress and the cost-benefit will be well worth it.

Yeah, these are great, but all of their websites are in different languages, so unless you speak that language, it's kinda pointless.

I used to have cotton sheets and would change them about twice a week or more (depending on what was going on). But now I changed to 100% bamboo sheets which are naturally anti-microbial and seem to stay fresher longer. With my new sheets, I only change once a week.
That seems to be about right, in order to keep that fresh feeling when we slip into bed at night.

There is a lot of country going on in this kitchen, which isn't a bad thing - if that's what you're going for.
The color on the walls is not as modern-looking as you might think. Plus, as has been stated a few times in the comments above, changing out the hardware while leaving the cabinets exactly the same, will result in more clash of styles.
The light fixture above the dining room table - country. The china cabinet - country. The cabinet style - country. Even the dish rags with country scenes on them are - COUNTRY.
You may want to reconsider some of your choices if you want to get rid of the country look.

This is THE BEST idea I've seen for bar soap! My bathroom has a stone bath mat which will compliment this idea PERFECTLY! Plus, it gives my bathroom the spa feel that I'm going for!

For a tv/lounge area, I would think a warmer and more comfortable/versatile coffee table would be a better bet. Maybe something that could double as seating if needed. The marble top is definitely durable, but a little cold for a lounging space.
Just a thought.

I'm going to have to agree with most of the posts above - having a computer with internet access in this age is more than a must, it's is life. I'm not talking about the social impact technology has on our lives, but just for the necessities, like paying bills, researching jobs, apartments, or reading up on current events.
I recently completed a master's degree and would NEVER have been able to do this without a computer and internet access. I think at this point it is almost needless to say that the two go hand-in-hand and one without the other is almost pointless.
Giving up television is one thing, I personally don't have cable and only watch Netflix or Hulu, but computer/internet is not something that I believe most people living in developed nations are willing (able?) to give up.
I know I'm not.

It's cute and clean, but it looks like a model home - very staged and not lived in at all. I see very little personality in this home. The most exciting part was the lime green bathroom, but even that looked a little generic. It's nice though, looks like the houses in the magazines.

I would NOT even CONSIDER covering those windows up with ANYTHING if they are the only thing bringing in natural light. I would do a simple frosted glass film cover for privacy... and maybe throw a little color on the walls :-)

My two recommendations would be to paint all the wood a white or off-white color to make the kitschy stand out even more! That way your moose head will really pop from the wall and give the effect your're looking for.
If not, then I would cut the top-half of wood paneling off so as to create a wainscoating looks and paint the top-half a bright color in your color scheme. That would be fun to.

Plexiglass is actually sometimes much better for artwork because glass is non-porous and in high humidity, this can cause condensation on the inside of your artwork! Plexiglass is porous and lets your artwork breathe avoiding the condensation and eventual demise of your cherished prints and/or artwork.
Plus, plexiglass is much lighter than glass, won't break as easily and can easily be coated to avoid the yellowing affect mentioned by someone above.
Oh, and I'm not sure where some of these people are getting their plexiglass from, but framing quality plexiglass is not cheap-looking nor cheap; it's high quality that looks just as crisp & clear as glass and costs almost twice as much as glass.
