I use Mozy - it runs in the background on my mac and backs everything up into the cloud. It's $6 a month.

Agreed - I had a teeny bathroom with a window that had been permanently closed and covered over with siding - absolutely against code here in Philly. According to code each bathroom must have a functioning window and/or exhaust fan. I didn't realize this until after I moved out. While I was there, I hung my towels outside the bathroom to dry and tried not to use any cloth storage items in the bathroom. I also was a big fan of bleach and would wipe down the shower and walls with bleach at least once a month.

We have a teeny back deck on our south philly rowhome, so we spend the summer on the stoop, where we can meet the neighbors, watch the kids on the street play and drink beer with friends.

Beatrix Potter on one wall, tiny pink flowers on the other 3. My mom found a peter rabbit ceramic lamp and figurines, too.

There are a lot of posts about trash cans with lids - didn't your mother ever teach you to wrap things up in toilet paper that other people shouldn't have to see? Problem solved.

I hate when people store their towels in the bathroom. While it seems to make sense, I feel like all the moisture causes mildew and makes the towels smell.

We have a rubber backed rug AND a cotton bath mat that gets hung on the side of the tub to dry after a shower. The rug shouldn't be used to dry your feet, that's what a bathmat is for. The bathmat gets washed every week; the rug less often.

When guests come over - always fresh hand towels and a candle burning.

Other than that, general cleanliness is what's important. I'm very particular about using a clean shower. I probably clean the bathroom more than anywhere else in the house. Unfortunately we have a very old enamel tub that's a lovely shade of teal, but is also very scratched so it always looks dirty.

I usually just take my stack of business cards and connect with those people on linked in within a few days of meeting them. That way I can add a personalized note that states how we met. I also use http://rapportive.com/ as an add on to gmail (we use gmail's enterprise version at work) so I can connect with people I email. Plus, even if you don't want to connect with them, it will show you a photo of them in your email if they have one uploaded to social media

We're in a smallish rowhome and we entertain 2-3 times a month. OUr kitchen is small, so we usually like to make it potluck. The main thing that's a challenge is having a dining room table that's large enough to seat everyone. Plus, the house is narrow, so you can't move around the table easily. The house gets cramped if we have more than 7-8 guests, especially since there's no delineation between our living room, dining room and kitchen.

My main concern is dishwashing detergent smell in my plastic containers. Even my pyrex lids smell like the last detergent I bought. I'm worried that they don't just smell like the soap, but have actually absorbed some of the perfume and I think it's seeping out into the food. Maybe it's time to just get rid of them?

I don't think this would work well for my brother and me, but we did live 4 blocks from each other for a few years and that was a great situation. We were just close enough to be able to drop in for a cup of coffee or dinner.

I'm a convention planner and I created a google voice account a few years ago to give to clients that ask for my cell number before the event. I hate giving them my personal cell because then they have free reign to call me on my off hours. I turn the number off after the event and set it up to forward to my office phone. It keeps them happy because they think they can get a hold of me anytime and it keeps me happy because they really can't.

I've also started to use it for any time that I really don't want to give my number out. The spam filters and blocking calls have been great.
