It's so interesting to read how what are must-haves for one mom were never-used for another! We bought a tub and returned it unused, preferring to take our LO into the bath or shower with us. And while we had a pack-n-play it was a hand-me-down without bassinet and was used only for occasional sleep overs.

My only absolute couldn't have lived without were our two carriers (we had a fabric wrap the first 3 months and an Ergo up until 2.5 years), and a good quality/easy to push stroller - totally worth the money spent if you walk outside a lot year-round!

We have a three year old so it's a non-issue for us - all our liquor is behind a latched door in the cold cellar. Otherwise do what works for you and your lifestyle I say! We have a coffee bar because we use it very regularly - so why not keep out what you use? I wouldn't personally want to dust a bunch of bottles and accessories, but if we entertained a lot and our friends were into cocktails I'm sure I'd be more inclined to have a bar of some kind.

I'm so glad we bought two carriers - a wrap and an Ergo. Both had their moments, and both were sanity savers! And our stroller - it was mid-high range and totally worth it! Both grama's had a cheaper stroller and I hated pushing them in comparison.

I did pretty well on not having many purchase regrets (we didn't bother with a lot of the typical baby stuff - swing, monitor, furniture suite, etc. - or bought second hand), but our baby bathtub got returned - we just took baby into the bath or shower with us! And I went a bit nuts buying cloth diapers - so many types to try and cute prints! I was able to resell them all, but lost some cash on more than a few that maybe got used once. Should have just stuck with what worked. Oops!

I grew up with top sheets, but stopped regularly using them when I bought my first duvet (and cover for it). Now it only gets pulled out in the extreme summer heat when a duvet is just too much...

Now if more retailers would just sell (good quality) fitted sheets on their own!

Love it! We recently moved into a new all-hardwood floor home and layered some rugs in my preschoolers bedroom. It was a very budget friendly solution (we had the area rug, but it was boring and beige), and it's now a fun area (we topped it with three round "flower" rugs from Ikea). I'm sold on the idea of layering rugs!

I'm going to tackle finding curtains and a (brass) rod for our dining room. We moved into this house 6 weeks ago and have been making-do with our cheap old tab-top curtains tacked to the top of the door frame - super ugly!
