Ya'll got a nice home!

Adults who sleep with the bed against the wall like little kids kill me. Any amount of walking space will do rather than crawling over someone every.single.time.one.gets.in.and.out.of. the bed. If you have a tiny room that's one thing, but this room looks like there could be other options for bed placement. But HEY! it's your home, enjoy it!

One should NEVER live better on the INSIDE than they could afford to on the OUTSIDE. Why wouldn't they keep wanting to come back or do a bigger crime and stay for awhile?

I grew up with an outside toilet and we washed up in enamel wash bowels. Every time I think I have to go to the bathroom I go to the back door to go outside! Then I realize, hey, the bathroom is in the house now and then I head upstairs. I start to put the tea kettle on to heat the water to bathe and then realize, oh, the shower is up there in the same room as the toilet! Wow, old habits really do die hard! No, seriously, had the last outhouse in Salem County, NJ and virtually no indoor plumbing in that old cold house, but no lasting ramifications!

I thought that story was familiar! Isn't it excerpted from your book "Apartment Therapy The 8 Week Home Cure." As refreshing today as it was so long ago when I read the book during my first attempt at the home cure. 'Cept with pictures Thanks.

I think I would place the bed so that I could walk around it, even if that means losing the desk or other piece of furniture. This is because my bedroom is so tiny that I don't have that option. But, really lovely. Love the color or that bedspread.

Thanks for that reply Maxwell. I've been a fan of this website for so long and I've adopted and bought into so much of your first book "Apartment Therapy". I referred friends and family to the website and invited them to do the Home Cure. In fact, Apartment Therapy was the first book I bought from Amazon. I really do get what you're going through and I feel that so many folks have expressed "nice" comments but you know and they know you wouldn't win the Small Cool contest. They'd tell you to look at some of the entries and reapply next year. Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing the new space when you are ready.
