love the dreamy light and closeups of the risotto. i want to dive right in. i especially like the Q&A at the end. it's a very readable format, and turns out to be like listening in on an engaging dialogue.

this is exactly why i want to visit portland. i love this girl's style and smile and her willingness to park her little bus-buns on a corner and put a neon sign up that says OPEN! if i lived anywhere near i'd be her friend and patron. great post that makes me want to TRAVEL!

As someone who watches too many home-improvement shows, I'm dying to build a banquette into that brightly lit nook! Love the relaxed and cheerful feeling of this kitchen.

I'm lucky enough to have eaten out of this kitchen! Ross taught me to not turn the turkey burgers too early and Cissy taught me to stay out of Ross's way! And that coffee machine is a FIERCE wake up call at 5:30 am.
When I think of Cissy I hear the loud groan of that fizzy-water machine and then her lovely lilting voice offering it the carafe around.
I want to be there now!

I Bittman him to be my friend. I want to call him Biddy like that drop-dead gorgeous model he tooled around Spain with. I want to show him my 6 year old kid, whose favorite dish is risotto with fava beans and lemon, and whose favorite vegetables (currently) are brussels sprouts and artichokes. I want to tell him I show Food, Inc. in my freshman composition class and have them write a paper on Food & Consumption because they don't think about the objects which pass for food that they ingest. I want to be LeelaCyd for a day and revel in the goodness that comes from being a ridiculously talented chick who gets to meet with such profound folks.

i'd go anywhere and drink anything if it looked as beautiful as this photograph! this reminds me of an article i read in the New Yorker magazine about hangover cures. they mentioned pickle brine repeatedly as being one of the favored European cures. it's probably just like gatorade!

my berries always mold before i get a chance to use them. this concise little entry prods me to whip them into something unusual. living in So. Cal lends a mexican influence to most everything we eat, and this makes me want to ditch the regular over-sweetened cantaloupe drink that is common around here. sweet piece.
