Great post Leela and thanks for the window into Beret's world. I know what she means when she talks about the overwhelming nature of the collective issues facing humanity. It is so easy to simply throw one's hands up out of a sense that we can never make a meaningful dent in the chaos that surrounds us but, alas, balance. And gardening. I can dig it! Way to make your mark and own it, Beret. Keep it up!

Love the butcher block/island. Great use of the limited space in there...really makes it seem open and bigger than it actually is. Good post!

@lmf - The counters are one of my favorite things too! I'm pretty sure the previous owner put them in as they are still in pretty good shape and no, they aren't really too big of a hassle to keep nice. I polish them every month(ish) and make sure they are dry after every meal/cleanup cycle.

@EvaToad - Yeah, I love the knife "rack" as well...I saw it somewhere a few years ago and Brianne's mom got it for me that Christmas. Most people are fascinated by it the first time they come over!

Mmmmmm...marionberries! We are truly spoiled in the NW. Great post. Now I know where they came from and remembered how much I like, yet never make, a tasty agua fresca. Cheers!
