Agreed with the above on getting a cool media unit/armoire for your tv. would also afford a lot of good storage and could be a great focal point for the room (http://articles.ivillage.com/2003-02-10/Home/21648487_1_entertainment-center-furniture-sofa). If your stuck on the idea of I coffee table, I have seen great old school steamer trunks used as coffee tables, and they are awesome for storage.

Wow this is an amazing apartment. I love that it is both color and eclectic. I really like the flags in the living room and the bookshelf.

Am curious to know (since I cannot tell from pictures) how you set up the TV etc.

Wow! This is great! I do believe in the power of some paint and new fixtures.

I think the best place to splurge is on the vanity, it can make or break the bathroom. Will also note, white can be tricky...want to make sure it will hide stains!

Don't be shy about adding something dark, or more of a statement to the wall by the TV. Right now it looks a little off balance.

I found two really great article with tips for small rooms. I live in New York, which means (of course) I too have a really small space! Multi-purpose pieces are key, like a bench tha alos has storage.

Also, make sure you place your bigger furniture first!
