In climates that the cooling cycle is predominant, electric air and heat are fine. Gas is preferable and more efficient in climates where the heating cycle is predominant.

I have a beautiful Kenmore from the mid-sixties that I purchased used at a local sew and vac shop. It was, and still is, in perfect condition, and very well made. It does way more that I would ever need, and only use it maybe once a year, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Talk to some other carpenters, furniture restoration specialist, artist who work in wood, custom finishers. You will find the right person at the right price. This piece deserves it.

The before was not universally aweful.

One of my all time favorite publishers of modern design is AM Editores of Mexico. They have a catalog of books that are all PACKED FULL of images. Most of them are printed with Spanish, German, Frenh and English all in concordance. But, being design books, it doesn't matter if they are in Spanish. I've never been dissapointed with ANY of these books

I am in the K&B business, but I still believe a bathroom is a place where you take care of your 'business' and clean and groom. It needs to be nicely appointed, somewhat spacious, and serviceable... not much else.

It would be extremely easy to update that first bathroom and the first kitchen.
