I definitely do not change it seasonally and my art doesn't necessarily match my decor. Art is art and its not decoration.

Went here on my trip to Portland. Highlight of the trip. Pretty much the coolest shop ever not to mention Wood & Faulk's studio is upstairs. Amazing!

Currently in a two bedroom/two floor apartment probably 800-900 square feet in Beacon hill, Boston for $1950... Highest id go is $2500 I'd say... I don't think you can get a nice 2 bed for under 2200... We lucked out somehow!

rats, I got excited! I have read a lot about the sharpies for fabric and have found that they dont have a good tip to make defined lines, they are more like a "brush" tip.

I thought they were from Crate and Barrel a few years ago, someone I knew had those identical ones. They have a lot of different trunky items yearly, also keep an eye on them, but they are always a bit pricey.

I've been wondering about this, normal sharpies don't bleed? Because that'd be awesome.

Wow! Thanks for all of this. I have a lot of homework to do - mission new couch is beginning! Just a little side note about the Karlstad. We did get it second hand but it was in great condition, we even got a new slipcover straight from IKEA to replace the brown one the previous owners had. But slightly over a year later, our new cover is ROTTING off! its all discolored and the edges are disintegrating. I did a little research and found out that the foam is made out of some crazy chemical that reacts badly to upholstery and therefore causes the material in the covers to break down. The feet are also bent and the center of the couch is sagging. Its one of our only forms of sitting (in the main room) so it does get a lot of use but we don't abuse the thing by any means. The seemingly scary stuff its made out of is also a big reason I'm on the hunt for a new sofa. Any one else experience this with Karlstad stuff?

The sofa we have is the Karlstad one, I am not partial to any of the other sofas that come apart from Ikea, plus, they just aren't good quality. Thanks for all the advice! I will definitely check out the recommendations. We could have the couch lifted through the window with a crane but we wanted to save that for the move - out one day, instead of splurging to do that just for the sofa.

We have absolutely no more wall space for our bikes. They live outside : ( and in our friends basement during the very wintery months.

I give assignments. I mostly have potlucks with my close group of friends so this is very do-able for me. On the invite I let everyone know what the "theme" may be (if there is one) and I give each person or couple invited a particular kind of dish to bring, for example, a non-starchy vegetable dish, a starchy vegetable dish, a dessert, or a salad. It seems to work out well and people seem to enjoy the challenge of fulfilling their task. And you have a well-rounded table! I think the host should always provide the main dish and dessert. But that's because I love to bake!

I have an indoor/outdoor rug made by these people :

I also have a normal rug made by them and I love them both. The indoor outdoor one can literally be hosed off if needed, but I find a quick sponge and a dust bust keeps it super clean. Plus I love how it looks.

I also use my swim goggles, I have been storing them in my silverware drawer for years. Does the trick! And yes, shedding a few tears over an onion IS that bad. Its not just the tears, its the stinging, I normally have to leave the room (or the entire floor).
